Softball district play begins Friday, March 1.

    The track meet for junior high was Feb. 23. The seventh grade Edna girls finished fourth with 50 points and Industrial girls finished fifth with 44. For seventh grade boys, Edna came in second with 127 points and Industrial was seventh with 28. In eighth grade girls, Edna was second with

    Ganado Maiden golf packed their bags and trucked over to Boling Feb. 20, finishing as the second place team in the tournament.
Edna
    Edna varsity golf traveled to the Bay City Country Club Feb. 18-19, with both teams finishing second overall. The Cowgirls swept the top three individual medalist spots, with Khloe Karl, Kiki Akoon and Britany Billings finishing one-two-three.

    The Ganado Maidens finished second out of six teams Feb. 22-23 at the Shepherd Tournament.
    “I am very pleased with how we played this weekend,” said Head Coach Malina Andel. “We played solid defense with people playing several different positions.”
    The Maidens had five named to the All Tournament Team: Georgi Garza, Alyssa Reyes, Lindsay Kocian, Emma Weschler and Brianna Ledwik.
 

     The Edna Cowgirls traveled to Hallettsville Feb. 22 and beat a ranked Brahma team 8-7. The Cowgirls are 6-2. It was Hallettsville’s first loss.
    The Cowgirls scored 2 runs in the first innings to take the lead, but Hallettsville came back with 7 runs in the fourth and fifth innings to take a 7-3 lead. Edna’s bats began to get started, hitting 4 home runs.
 

    Industrial tennis participated in the Goliad Invitational tennis tournament Feb. 21-22 with junior varsity team playing on Thursday and varsity on Friday.
    On Friday Miguel Miro and Rachel Klasel placed first in mixed doubles.

    The Cowboy Relays in Edna kicked off track season Feb. 21.
    Taking gold at the meet were the Edna 4x200 relay team, Madison Kucera in the shot put and Kaylynn Grudzieski in pole vault for Edna and Courtney High of Industrial in the 3200 meter run. The Edna boys team finished fifth with 54 points and the Ganado boys qualified 10th with 17. The Cowgirl track team took seventh with 41.     Junior varsity competed at the Cowboy Relays Feb. 21. The Edna boys team took third with 72 points. The Edna girls finished first with a 119.

    Ganado Maiden junior varsity softball played the Edna Cowgirls in Edna Feb. 18, winning in five innings 11-7.
    Kylie Hicks started on the mound for Ganado, pitching four innings against 28 batters. Hicks struck out 7 batters, walked 11, allowing a pair of hits and just 3 earned runs.

    The Industrial Cobras fell to the El Campo Ricebirds at home Feb. 19 3-4 in preseason softball play.
    The Cobras trailed by 2 early before closing the gap to a run with careful plate work. Madison Garza pitched the full seven innings and has a record of 2-2.
