    The Tidehaven HS Relays  were March 7 and Jackson County was there. The Edna Cowgirls won their meet with 144 points, Industrial finished fourth with 84 and Ganado seventh with 45. Among the boys, Edna came in third with 102.5 points, the Ganado Indians were fourth with 91.5 and Industrial sixth with 45. Individual results are in the paper.

Edna juniors Anthony Norman, left, and David John Kallus both earned honorable mentions for their 2012 season as offensive tackle and linebacker, respectively, on the 62nd Annual Collin Street Bakery/Texas Sports Writers Association’s Class 2A All-State Football Team.

    Megan Taylor is going back to state for her fourth trip. Taylor won her class again at the Region 4 Division 3 Powerlifting meet in Palacios, March 9. The Edna girls team finished second, with six girls total advancing to the State Powerlifting Meet March 16 in Corpus Christi. Taylor will be joined in Corpus Christi to compete at state by fellow Maiden Zoe Valdez and Cowgirls Kamryn Roman, Dolly Ortiz, Eboni Ogden, Ja-Nessia Prince, Laura Garcia, and Shermeka Thompson. The Maidens team was third.
    At the boys Division 3 Championships in Cleveland March 2, Trenton Thedford and Jesus Rios of Industrial and TJ Foley and Logan Robinson of Edna squatted, pressed and heaved their way to the boys State Meet March 23 in Abilene. Industrial finished fourth as a team, Edna was eighth and Ganado came in 14th. Individual results are in the paper.

Industrial junior post Elissa Beaudoin earned a selection to the Texas Girls Coaches Association’s 2A All-State team. Only 40 athletes from 2A are selected.

    Industrial hosted the Rattler Relays March 8 with Industrial Junior High in attendance. The eighth grade Rattler boys finished second and Rattler Bs were fourth and the Eighth grade girls were third. The seventh grade boys A squad finished second and the boys B squad was fourth, and the girls finished third.

    The Edna boys junior varsity golf played in the Cowboy Invitational March 5, tying for fifth place with a 411.
    “The JV boys did a very good job on Tuesday,” said Head Coach IC Sklar. “They shot their best team score for the year. Lane Koop and Hunter Boxwell shot their best round in tournament competition.”
    Koop broke 100 with a 51 and a 45 for a 96-stroke day and Boxwell was on the cusp with a 101, shooting a 52 on one pass and a 49 on the other. Colton Fowler scored a 105 with a 51 and a 54 and Lucas Callies notched a 109, opening with a 55-stroke round and closing with a 54. Jonah Rodriguez putted up a 56 and followed with a two-stroke improvement 54 for a 110 scorecard.

    The Ganado Maidens took third in the Weimar Tournament Feb. 28-March 2. The Maidens finished with a win, defeating El Campo 3-2. Georgi Garza (6-0) faced 25 batters in six innings, earning the win striking out three and allowing six hits.
    Emma Weschler drove in the eventual winning run as Lindsay Kocian scored off a Weschler single. Weschler singled in the second and would score, driven in by a Brianna Ledwik double. Taylor Mirelez singled and would score. Garza, Kocian and Ashley Bridges each had a stolen base.
