Connie Sue Capak

Connie Sue "Sudie"Capak, 43, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Sept. 30, 2015 one month after a kidney transplant. She was born Aug. 17, 1986 in Ganado to Connie Gregory Capak and Butch Capak. 
Sue graduated from Travella High School in Coral Springs, Fla. She attended Morales Baptist Church. She was a loved and valued employee in the classified and legal composition department with the Jackson County Herald-Tribune in Edna.
She is survived by mother, Connie Moseley and step-dad Clebert Moseley, and father Butch Capak; sister Shanna Harris and husband Cree; nephew Derek Lopez, and nieces Danielle and Hailee Lopez and Caroline Arellano, all from Edna.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents Dewey Gregory and Helen Gregory, Walter Tipton and Louis and Ruby Capak, and her great-grandparents.

Errol "Skipper" Muncrief

Errol V. "Skipper" Muncrief, 70 of Edna passed away on Sunday, September 27, 2015. 
He was born Feb. 12, 1945 in Healdton, Okla. to the late Vera Stanford Muncrief and Robert "Bob" Muncrief.
Skipper graduated from University of Houston, and retired from Petro Tec-Bayer in Houston, Texas. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. 
He is survived by his son, William Muncrief and wife Crystal of Pineland, his sister Shirley Woodard, brother Bobby Muncrief and wife, Terri of Edna, and two grandchildren, Hunter and Susan Muncrief. 
He is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Johnny Muncrief.
There will be a private family memorial at a later date.
In lieu of flowers; Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of South Texas, 605 E. Locust Avenue, Victoria, TX  77901.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Russell Todish of Slavik Funeral Home, Edna, 361-782-2152.

Jessie Frenzel

Jessie H. Frenzel, of Edna, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, Sept. 27, 2015 at the age of 77. He was born in Edna on Oct. 16, 1937, to the late Joe and Bertha L. Frenzel.
Jessie worked for United Gas Pipe Line for 40 Years before he retired. Jessie was a member of the Masonic Svc in Jackson County for several years he was also a member of the Vanderbilt Baptist Church for many years. 
Jessie is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Jerri Frenzel of Edna; daughters, Kim Counts and her husband John, Tanya Estes and her husband Mike; sons, David Picha and his wife Rebecca, Dennis Picha and his wife Cynthia, Randy Graham and his wife; sisters, Velma Moss, Earline Dawes and Jean Powers; seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Mary Sturm, Clara Coalson and Vera Keith; brothers, Joe E. Frenzel, Clyde Frenzel and George Frenzel.

Travis Clayton

Travis Lee Clayton, 32 died Sept. 14, 2015. Travis was born Oct. 13, 1982 in Elk City, Okla.  
He is survived by his daughter Eternity Nichole, sons Marious Deon, and Lastat Leon; his father Marvin Don Clayton and mothers Sandra and Venicia. He was blessed with nine brothers and sisters, Ronald, Michael, Melinda, Crystal, Candice Clayton, Clint and Ashley Carlton, Michael and Troy Morey.
Travis attended PSJA High School in San Juan, Texas. 
Per his wishes a party to celebrate his life will be held on Saturday, Oct. 3 at the Blanconia HayBarn.
  Travis always lived life on his terms.

Ray Dabney

Ray Dabney, 67, of Uvalde, passed away in Alpine, Texas on Sept. 15, 2015. He was born Sept.23, 1947 in Munich, Germany to Walter Davis Dabney, Jr. and Charlotte Ramsey. He was the second of nine children.  
He attended Texas A&M University in College Station, and was a member of the Corps of Cadets company D-1 “Spider D”, graduating with the Fightin’ Texas Aggie Class of 1970. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Parks and Recreation. Upon graduation, Ray was commissioned as a 2nd lieutenant in the U.S. Army, spending 13 months in 1972 and 1973 flying helicopters with the 1st of the 9th Air Cavalry F Troop in Vietnam, earning a Bronze Star and fourteen Air Medals.  
After being honorably discharged as a Captain, he spent a short time in Georgia and then returned to Texas and attended graduate school while working at the Lavaca-Navidad River Authority in Edna.

Larry Stutzman

Larry Lee “Pops” Stutzman, 69, returned to his heavenly home on Sept. 23, 2015, at 5 p.m. after a valiant battle with a long illness. His devotion to his family and his firm belief in god supported him in his struggle and ultimately gave him peace.
Larry was born May 31, 1946, Lincoln, Neb. to the late Leland and Lesley Stutzman. He graduated from Beaver Crossing High School and attended Weslynn University until he joined the U.S. Army. He was a Vietnam Veteran and inducted into the Nebraska High School Sports Hall of Fame in 2013. He worked in the grocery industry for over 50 years, and retired from Super S/Lowes in May 2015. He resided with his wife in Devine, Texas. His family remembers him as a kind and patient man who encouraged them to pursue their goals.

Charles Strnadel Jr.

Charles Joseph (C.J.) Strnadel, Jr. of Inez, passed away on, Friday, Sept. 25, 2015 at the age of 93. C.J. was born on Dec. 3, 1921 in the Plainview Community south of Hillje. He was the eldest of four children born to Charles J. Strnadel, Sr. and Lucille Huvar Strnadel.

Joan Saunders

Joan Virginia Hlavaty Saunders, of Edna, passed away Thursday, Sept. 17, 2015 at the age of 73. She was born in Edna, Texas, on Aug. 22, 1942, to the late Clarence and Mildred Gasch Fowler.
Joan, cared for and helped raise 28 foster children. She previously worked for Gulf Coast Wood in Cuero, she was a member of Ladies Guild at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Edna.

Marvin Doyal

Marvin James Doyal, 80 of Edna passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 15, 2015 at 6:55 p.m. Marvin was born on Feb. 2, 1935 in Donna, Texas to the late Joseph Doyal and Katherine Willamon Doyal. 
This loving husband and great provider was rewarded with peace after his battle with cancer.
Marvin was a member of Morales Baptist Church and made his living in the oilfield industry. After retiring, this Navy veteran took great pride in caring for the grounds surrounding his home.
Marvin is survived by wife of 38 years, Virgie New Doyal; sister, Velma Martin of Fort Worth, daughters, Barbara Maberry of Pasadena and Rebecca Sprague of League City; son Randy Doyal of Pasadena; five grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren;  step-daughters, Carol Mathis of Austin and Sharon Mathis of Edna; five step-grandchildren, and 11 step-great-grandchildren.
Marvin was preceded in death by his parents; and his brother Stanley Doyal.

Jimmie Henry

Jimmie Louise Nance Henry, 84 of Ganado passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 16, 2015. Jimmie was born on May 30, 1931 in Teague, to the late William Andy Cartwright and Beatrice Finley Cartwright.
She is survived by her children; Mike and Midge Nance, Norma and Jerry Pickens, Larry and Holly Nance, and Carol and Billy Fowler, along with her nine grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren
Jimmie is preceded in death by her parents, her first husband; Gene Nance, her second husband; Bill Henry, and her brother Alvin Cartwright.
Visitation was Friday, Sept. 18, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Ganado Funeral Home. The funeral service was Saturday, Sept. 19, at 2 p.m. at Ganado Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Joseph Pope officiating. Interment followed at Ganado Cemetery.
Services have been entrusted to Russell Todish of Ganado Funeral Home, 361-771-2120.
