Autrey Browning

Autrey Marie Raney Browning, 77, passed away Tuesday June 30, 2015. She was born on Sept. 5, 1937, in Alvin to the late Robert Sr. and Mossie McDaniel Raney.  
Autrey was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. 
Autrey is survived by her daughter, Cynthia Browning, a son, Kevin Morrison; and four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ervin Lee; daughter, Anita Redding; and brother, Robert Raney, Jr.
Visitation and funeral service will be Friday July 3, at the Slavik Funeral Home, from 10 a.m until services at 1:30 p.m., with Rev. George Tompkins officiating. Interment will immediately follow at Memory Gardens in Edna.
Services have been entrusted to Russell Todish of Slavik Funeral Home, Edna, 361-782-2152.

San Juanita Bazan

San Juanita Bazan, of Edna, Texas passed away Tuesday, June 30, 2015, at the age of 52. She was born November 27, 1962, in Rio Grande City, Texas, to the late Pablo and Amelia Garcia Bazan.

San Juanita worked as a care giver for many years. She touched the lives of several people and had a trademark smile that would never be forgotten. She loved to spend time with her family and friends. Juanita was a loving mother, sister, aunt and friend who will be missed dearly.

Mary Agnes Jones

Mary Agnes Hodges Jones, 96, of Lockhart and formerly of Edna, passed away on Saturday, June 27, 2015. She was born in Orange Grove, Texas, on Feb. 11, 1919, to the late Edna Mae Kirby and Ed Meredith Hodges. She married the late Christal Dean Jones, Sr. in 1933.
Mary and CD were founding members of the Baptist Temple Church in Edna. She was a dedicated church member and helped in providing food and activities for the church and for her family.
Mary is survived by son, Christal Dean Jones, Jr. and wife, Lois Jean of Lockhart; three grandchildre, Chris Jones, Robert Dean Jones, and James Wesley Jones; six great-grandchildren, Heather, Kimberly, Joshua, Rebecca, James and Bryan; and five great-great grandchildren, Caleb, Justin, Angelina, Addison and Carter. Also surviving her are her nieces, Linda Hodges Domel of Texas City, and Shirley Jones Jurek of Victoria.

Agnes Wofford Argo

Agnes Eliza Carroll Wofford Argo, passed away June 23, 2015 at the age of 96 years. She was born on April 10, 1919 in Francitas to the late Robert Delrose and Lena Boyer Carroll. 
She is survived by her daughter, Vivian M. Wofford Guthrie, four grandchildren, Tracy Guthrie Brandt, Roxanne Guthrie Rogers, Michael Sean Wofford, and James Patrick Wofford, and seven great-grandchildren, Tyler Jacob Rogers, Baleigh Elyse Rogers, Parish Michael Brandt, Paxton Thomas Brandt, and Peyton Christopher Brandt.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, Collis J. Wofford and Emmett Argo, and her son, Carson Wayne Wofford.

Jerome Hlavaty

Betty Louise Reed, 85, of Lockhart, passed away on June 22, 2015. She was born on May 11, 1930 in Lytton Springs to Willie Thomas and Ida Mae Richburg Smith.
She grew up in Lockhart and graduated from Lockhart High School in 1948. She lived in Vanderbilt area for many years before returning back to Lockhart after her husband passed away. She worked at McCurdy Funeral Home for many years starting in 1984.
She was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. 
She was preceded in death by her parents and her loving husband of 35 years, George W. Reed.

Betty Louise Reed

Betty Louise Reed, 85, of Lockhart, passed away on June 22, 2015. She was born on May 11, 1930 in Lytton Springs to Willie Thomas and Ida Mae Richburg Smith.

Emma Joe Wheeler

Emma Joe Wheeler, 84, of Lolita passed away June 17, 2015. She was born in San Benito on Oct. 27, 1930 to the late Thomas Alton “Smokey” Caffall and Lee Ella Goode Caffall.  
She was raised in Rio Hondo. In 1970 she married Arthur F. “Hoppy” Wheeler and moved her family to Lolita where she lived for 44 years and was an active member of the Lolita United Methodist Church. She loved her church family and she and Hoppy helped build the present building. She enjoyed playing bridge and her bridge friends. She loved her family and was always there for them. Her family and friends will miss this special woman.
She is survived by her daughter, Anita LaNell Gross; step-daughter, Debra Lynn Wheeler; sister, Judy Ann Estes; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Larry Novosad

Larry Novosad, 71, died Saturday, June 13, 2015.  He was born June 2, 1944 in Ganado to Raymond and Mozile Hurt Novosad. He attended Ganado High Scool and served in the U.S. Navy. He was a Master Mason in Lodge 180 in McCrory, Ark. and a member of the First Baptist Church in McCrory, Ark.
He is survived by his sons Steven Novosad of Texarkana and Bradley Novosad of Olive Branch, Miss.; daughter, Shari Novosad of Augusta, Ark.; sister, Kim Novosad; and grandchildren Chloe, Allie, Kaylee, Anna, Claire and Emilie Grace.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Michael Novosad and Jimmy Tupa; and sister, Sandy Novosad.
Visitation was from 5 to 7 p.m. on June 17 at Thompson-Wilson Funeral Home, McCrory, Ark. with funeral services at 2 p.m. on June 18 at First Baptist Church in McCrory with Rev. Cecil Fuller officiating. Interment was in the Ganado Cemetery on June 20.

Geraldine Strelec

Geraldine Swinky Strelec, of Edna, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, June 14, 2015 at the age of 70. She was born in Blessing, on Oct. 28, 1944, to the late John Joe Swinky and Emily Esterak Swinky.
Geraldine was a housewife who took care of her family. She was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend who will be truly missed.  
Geraldine is survived by her husband of 53 years Edwin John Strelec of Edna, daughter, Lisa Strelec Wendel and her husband Gerald of El Maton; son, Sonny Strelec and his wife Brenda of Edna; sisters, Wilma Vavra, Frances Ann Dusek and her husband Ray, Margaret Fehmel, Doris Johs and her husband Sonny; grandchildren, Jeffrey Wendel and his wife Marissa, Kyle Wendel, Jack Strelec, MaKenna Strelec; and great-grandchildren, Mason, Marleigh and Maddox Wendel.

Carolyn Faye Sims

    Former Ganado resident, Carolyn Faye Sims, 73, passed away peacefully in her home on June 11th 2015.  Carolyn was born to Richard Patteson and Lenia Lee
    Jenkins was born on December 24, 1941.  While she was born in San Antonio and lived in many Texas towns she called Ganado home.  Carolyn enjoyed a life full of adventure; fishing, hunting, gardening, and baking.  She loved her family and loved spending time with all of them.  She also cared for others as a certified nurse assistant.  In her later years she lived happily with M. L. Sims in Ganado.
    Carolyn is preceded in death by her parents, her first husband Adolf Kolacny, her brothers Raymond Lowe and Harvey Patteson, and her niece Kerri Lowe Hazelwood.
    Carolyn is survived by her daughter Debbie Grover, Diane Westbrook and Ada Faltesek.  She is also survived by nine grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren.  She was dearly loved by all, and will be missed greatly.
