Salllye Mercer

Sallye Sue Mercer, 67, of Ganado, passed away in her home on Oct. 21, 2015.  She was born on May 22, 1948 in Wharton County. She was a resident of Jackson County since 1984.  
A devoted wife of 33 years, she was survived by her husband Bert N. Mercer of Ganado, sons Tod Svatek and his wife Stefanie of East Bernard, Wyatt Mercer of Victoria, Michael Mercer and his wife Leah of Conway, Ark.; daughters Mandy Jo Kliem of Ganado, and Eva Dawn Kliem of Glenn Rose;18 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.  
She was preceded in death by her father Will Kyle Churchill and her mother Ethel Cole Churchill of Boling, as well as her brother and sister.
Visitation was 5 to 7 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 22 at Ganado Funeral Home.
Funeral services were held on Friday, Oct. 23, at 10:30 a.m. at Ganado Funeral Home, with a graveside service following at Greenlawn Cemetery in Richmond at 1:30 pm.

Hugh Jetton

Hugh Nelson Jetton, 83, of Dayton passed away Monday, Oct. 5, 2015 at Dayton-Tarkington Care Center. Mr. Jetton was born Sept. 2, 1932 in Edna to parents Lathy Wells Jetton and Evelyn Anna Rodgers Jetton. He was a graduate of Edna High School and attended the University of Texas. He received his degree in mechanical engineering. Hugh served in the United States Air Force. He was a resident of the Dayton area for the past few years and was previously of Houston. Hugh enjoyed fishing, being outdoors and was always working on his own inventions.
Toward the end of his career, Hugh worked for Santa Fe International Construction Co. as a liasion officer to Prince Fahad of the Saudi royal family of Aramco. After several years, he retired and returned to the United States. His last few years he had settled in Dayton where his children came to settle near him in Cleveland and Anderson.

Judy Srubar

Judith "Judy" Hajovsky Srubar, 91, of Ganado, passed away on Monday, Oct. 19, 2015. Judy was born on May 16, 1924 in Schulenburg to the late John A. and Mary Beran Hajovsky. She married John J. Srubar on Aug. 7, 1944 in Ganado. Judy was a member of Assumption Catholic Church in Ganado and of the SPJST.
Judy is survived by her daughters, Gloria Macha of Spring, and Joyce and Paul Bundick of Ganado. Also surviving are grandsons, Clinton and Emily Macha of Cypress, John Paul and Barbie Bundick of Ganado, and Michael and Erica Bundick of Manvel; great-grandchildren, Eugene Henry, Macy and Scarlett Macha, Garreth, Blake, Jordyn, Sly, and Lauren Bundick; also, brothers, George and Bernice Hajovsky, and Johnny and Joyce Hajovsky.
Judy was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, John J. Srubar, her parents, her brothers, Jack, Syl, and I.G. Hajovsky, her sister, Margie Vick, and son-in-law, Eugene Macha.

    GANADO: Sallye Sue Mercer passed away in her home on October 21, 2015.  She was 67 years old, born on May 22, 1948 in Wharton County.  She was a resident of Jackson County since 1984.  A devoted wife of 33 years, she was survived by her husband Bert N. Mercer of Ganado, also her sons Tod Svatek and his wife Stefanie of East Bernard, TX, Wyatt Mercer of Victoria, TX, Michael Mercer and his wife Leah of Conway, Arkansas, her daughters; Mandy Jo Kliem of Ganado, TX, and Eva Dawn Kliem of Glenn Rose, TX, her eighteen grandchildren and one great grandchild.  She was preceded in death by her father; Will Kyle Churchill and her mother Ethel Cole Churchill of Boling, TX, as well as her brother and sister.
     Visitation was 5-7pm Thursday, October 22, 2015 at Ganado Funeral Home.

Judy Srubar

Judith "Judy" Hajovsky Srubar, 91 of Ganado, passed away on Monday, October 19, 2015. Judy was born on May 16, 1924 in Schulenburg, TX to the late John A. and Mary Beran Hajovsky. She married John J. Srubar on August 7, 1944 in Ganado, TX.  Judy was a member of Assumption Catholic Church in Ganado and of the S.P.J.S.T.

Judy was survived by her daughters; Gloria Macha of Spring, and Joyce and Paul Bundick of Ganado. Also surviving are grandsons; Clinton and Emily Macha of Cypress, John Paul and Barbie Bundick of Ganado, and Michael and Erica Bundick of Manvel.  Great Grandchildren; Eugene Henry, Macy and Scarlett Macha, Garreth, Blake, Jordyn, Sly, and Lauren Bundick. Kelly Morales

Kelly Morales, of Ganado passed away surrounded by his loving children and wife on Saturday, Oct. 17, 2015, at the age of 78. He was born Aug. 7, 1937, in Edna, to the late Melquiades Morales and Sarah Luna Garcia.
Kelly worked for El Campo Aluminum many years. Kelly was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, great-great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend who will be missed dearly.
Kelly is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Georgia Castillo Morales; daughters, Sarah Ann M. Hernandez and her husband Matias of Grand Pairie, Irma M. Jimenez of Edna; step-daughter, Anita Morales of Georgetown; son, Kelly Mario Morales and his wife Alice of Edna; sisters, Jovita Hernandez of Edna, Janie Cantu of Bay City, Hope Garcia of Houston; brothers, Tommy Morales of Bay City, Jessie Garcia of Houston; 13 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews and many loving family members and friends.

Innonce I.G. Hajovsky

Innonce George (I. G.) Hajovsky, 85, of Ganado passed away on Oct. 11, 2015, in Ganado.  He was born on Aug. 28, 1930, in East Bernard, to the late John A. and Mary Beran Hajovsky. He married Ernestine Bilek Hajovsky on Jan. 31, 1951. He was a member of the Assumption Catholic Church and was retired from Alcoa. He was a devoted husband and loving father and grandfather.
He is survived by his sons, Carl Hajovsky and Bart (Karen) Hajovsky of Ganado, Mark (Sarah) Hajovsky of Louise, and daughter, Glenda (Gordon) Moore of Ganado; grandchildren, Carlie (Koty) Graham, Kendall Hajovsky, Sara (Nathan) Koenig, Lacey (Ian) Wilson, Chris (Lauren) Hajovsky, Greg (Lindsay) Hajovsky, Kimberly (David) Kelly, Matthew Hajovsky, Chad (Kelsey) Hajovsky, Craig Hajovsky, Cory Hajovsky, and 13 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by sister Judy Srubar and brothers George Hajovsky and Johnny Hajovsky.

Josefa Santellana

Josefa Santellana, 96, of Edna, passed away, Wednesday, September 30, 2015.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, Oct. 4, in the Oaklawn Funeral Home Chapel from 5 to 7 p.m. with a rosary recited at 7 p.m. A funeral mass will be held on Monday, Oct. 5, at 10:30 a.m., in the St. Agnes Catholic Church of Edna. Burial to follow in the Memory Gardens Cemetery in Edna with the Rev. Michael Petering officiating.

Sandra Smith

Sandra Lynette Long Smith, 49 of Edna, formerly of Lake Charles, La., passed away Friday, Oct. 2, 2015 surrounded by friends and family after battling inflammatory breast cancer for three years. Sandra was born on July 4, 1966 to Donald Mac Long Sr. and Helen Bragg Long of Edna in Ganado. 
Sandra grew up in Edna and graduated from Edna High School in 1984. She loved to run and spent many happy days on the track representing Edna with her track team. She participated in the State Track Meet her junior and senior years placing 6th and 2nd represpectively and still holds several local records in the 800m. When not on the track, you would probably find her cruising with her friends in Shera (Kucera) Salge’s Ole Blue.
