Indians needed a win for spark

    The Ganado Indians played Weimar on Tuesday, March 25 and lost 8-2. Kody Poulton was one for three with a homerun, and Garrett McCann was one for two with a single. Billy Jones and Poulton scored for their team.

Banda says team is young

    The Ganado Indians (3-4, 2-1) went 2-3 in a Halletsville tournament the weekend of March 6. They beat the Industrial Cobras 10-5 and beat Brazos 5-3 as well. All-tournement players named were Billy Jones and Kody Poulton.
    In District play, the Indians won out over the Louise Hornets 6-5 on Tuesday, March 18, with Cameron Martinez as the winning pitcher, striking out nine players. Lead hitters were Jones going three for four and 2RBIs in the botton of the seventh innings, and Caleb Thedford went two for three with a double leading off at the bottom.
    Other leading hitters were Clay Vesely, two for four, Poulton, one for four, Martinez one for three, Thedford, two for four with a double, and Garrett McCann went one for three.
    The Indians then played Shiner on Friday, March 21 and lost, 10-0.

‘Boys win against Cobras

    The Edna Cowboys (6-7, 3-2) played the Industrial Cobras and won 5-1 on Tuesday, March 18.
    Zakary Zantjer and Brent Dierlam had an RBI apiece, and Colton Richmond had three RBIs. Zantjer and Richmond also came away with a double each. Ross Novian, Zantjer, Richmond, David John Kallus and Guy Dodson each scored a run.
    Dodson pitched seven innings, and allowed two hits, one run scored, one earned run, five walks and seven strikeouts.
    The Edna Cowboys played Goliad on March 21 and won 11-7.

Maidens play close game

    The Ganado Maidens played Shiner on Friday, March 21 and lost, 3-5.
    “We made some early mistakes that might’ve made a difference in the outcome, but overall I was very pleased with how we played,” said Coach Malina Andel. “We haven’t played such a close game all season and they handled it well.”
    Lindsey Kocian, Taylor Mirelez and Sierra Salazar each had a run, with Brianna Ledwik, Jordan Banda, Mirelez, and Ashley Bridges bringing in a hit apiece. Ledwik ran a double and Kocian and Bridges each stole a base.
    Freshman Cheyenne Galindo pitched the game, allowing ten hits, five runs, four earned runs, three walks, six strikeouts, and no homeruns.
    “If we continue to play like that then I have no doubt we’ll come out on the winning end next time,” Andel said.
    The Maidens will have played Weimar on Tuesday, March 25, and will play Flatonia on Friday, March 28.

Track results for Ganado

    The Ganado Indians and Maidens competed in a Flatonia track meet on Saturday, March 22. The Maiden results are as follows: Junior Varsity- Raven Dunlap placed sixth in the 100M dash with a time of 14.55, she placed second in the 400M run with a time of 1:9.00, and second in the 200M run with a time of 29.08, and Sky Pesek placed sixth in the 800M run with a time of 3:1.00. Varsity- Ashley Bridges placed fourth in the 1600M run with a total of 6:02.00, Emma Weschler won first place in the 300M hurdles with a time of 48.79, Ganado placed third in the mile relay with a time of 4:44.00, Ashley Bridges placed fifth in the two mile with a time of 13:09.39, Cheyenne Galindo placed fifth in the 400M run with a time of 1:10.00, Sierra Salazar placed fifth in the 800M with a time of 2:51.00, and Hannah Janssen placed sixth in the discus with a length of 66’3.5”

‘Girls rebound after loss

    The Edna Cowgirls rebounded after being defeated by the Industrial Lady Cobras on Tuesday, March 18 with a score of 0-6, and won out over Goliad on Friday, March 21, with a score of 12-1.
    Haley Orsak pitched a complete game and hit a two-tun homerun. Alexis Soto hit two doubles and scored three runs. Madison Kucera hit a homerun and also scored three runs. Chasity Richmond was two for two and scored a run, and Drew Ganem also scored two runs.
    The Cowgirls improved their record to 15-3 and finished 6-1 after the first round.

Edna tennis boys get district-ready

    The Edna boys tennis team competed in a Hallettsville tournament, and the results are as follows.
    In the boys singles, Hunter Green lost to East Bernard with a score of 2-8, he won out over Sacred Heart 8-2, and played them again, winning 8-1. Green had a victory against Shiner 8-6 in the Consolation Championship.
    In the boys doubles, Brandon Nidey and Holton Newbern placed fourth, they beat Sacred Heart 8-2, lost to East Bernard 2-8, and then lost to Shiner 5-8.
    The boys and girls teams will begin District play on Tuesday and Wednesday,  March 25-26 in Aransas Pass.

Lady Cobras keep racking up their wins in district

    The Industrial Lady Cobras had a 6-0 victory over the Edna Cowgirls Tuesday, March 18 in Industrial. It was a superb night for Jordin Jones, as she hit two home runs to help carry her team to their victory in four innings play.

    The Lady Cobras also played Tidehaven on Friday, March 21, and won 17-0, after a 17-run explosion in the third inning.

Edna boys golf takes second

    The Edna boys golf team competed in the Calhoun Sandcrab Invitational on Monday, March 17, and placed second with a skim score of 358 points.
    Individual scores are as follows: Dutch Rab with 86 points, Keaton Crabb with 86 points, Brent Dierlam with 82 points, Lane Koop with 104 points and Jonah Rodriguez with 114 points. Dierlam placed fourth and Crabb placed fifth with their overall individual scores.
    The Edna Cowboys will have begun competing in district play on Monday, March 25, in Victoria.
