Cowgirls are to be playoff team

    The Edna Cowgirls traveled to Palacios on Tuesday, April 8, and beat the Sharkettes 12-4. Haley Orsak pitched a complete game and also hit a three-run homerun. It was her fifth homerun in district play.
    Drew Ganem also hit a three-run homerun, and Alexis Soto also scored two run and two hits. Tamara Mathis also score two runs and a double, and Taylor Darilek had two hits and scored.
    The Cowgirls improved their record to 19-3 and 10-1 in district play. Coach Ted Malek said the team has been continuing to work hard and improving.
    “It was a game in which we hit the ball well, Palacios is going to be a playoff team and we rose to the challenge,” he said.

Cowboys sitting in second

    The Edna Cowboys played the Palacios Sharks on Tuesday, April 8 and won 13-3.
    Ross Novian had three hits and two runs out of four, and Zakary Zantjer had two RBIs and a hit out of three. Justin Lee had an RBI, two hits and two runs out of three, and Guy Dodson had an RBI and a hit out of three. Landon Myers had a double, a hit and a run out of three, and Billy Ganem had two hits and two runs on four.
    The Edna Cowboys played Tidehaven on Friday, April 11, and won 6-2.
    David John Kallus had 2RBIs, two hits and a run on three, and Dodson had 2RBIs and a hit out of two. Zantjer had a hit and two runs on three.
    “We have clinched a playoff spot and are sitting in second place right now with three games left to go,” said Coach Kensey Allen.
    The Cowboys will have played the Industrial Cobras on Tuesday, April 15, and will play Goliad on Friday, April 17.

Maidens horn out Louise

    The Ganado Maidens played the Louise Hornets on Tuesday, April 4, and won 15-1.
    Ashley Bridges had two runs and three hits out of four, and Jordan Banda had three runs and two hits out of two times at bat. Hannah Janssen had two runs and two hits out of four, and Taylor Mirelez had one run and two hits out of four times at bat. Emma Weschler had two runs and one hit out of three and Maddie Workmon had two runs and a hit out of two times at the bat. Bridges and Janssen had a double each, and Weschler, Sarah Novak, Banda each stole a base, while Workmon stole two.
    Cheyenne Galindo pitched almost three innings and had a run and three strikeouts, and Brianna Ledwik pitched over three innings with a hit and three strikeouts.
    The Maidens then played Shiner on Friday, April 11, and lost 10-0.
    The Maidens will have played Weimar on Tuesday, April 14. They have made the playoffs and placed third in their district.

District 29-1A track meet results

    Ganado high school competed in the District 29-1A track and field meet in Weimar on Saturday, April 5, and the results are as follows.
    Ganado varsity boys placed 2nd overall with 108 points.

County teams shine at District 30-2A track meet

    Industrial and Edna high schools traveled to Goliad on Saturday, April 5 for the District 30-2A track meet, and the results are as follows.
    In the field events, Edna varsity girls place 2nd overall with a score of 43 and Industrial placed 4th overall with a score of 30 points. In the running events, Edna place 2nd with 116 points and Industrial placed 3rd with 85 points.

Cowboys have figured it out

    The Edna Cowboys played Aransas Pass on Tuesday, March 25 and won, 2-0. Ross Novian came away with an RBI, with runs by Cade Orsak and Colton Richmond, and hits by Brent Dierlam and Orsak. Guy Dodson allowed two hits, and had three strikeouts and three walks.

Maidens keep working hard

    The Ganado Maidens played Weimar on Tuesday, March 25, and lost, 6-0. Brianna Ledwik, Jordan Banda, Taylor Mirelez, Kendall Alvarez and Cheyenne Galindo each had a hit and a single. Galindo allowed seven hits and five runs with three walks.
    The Maidens then played Flatonia on Friday, March 28, and won 6-4. Banda put away a homerun and three RBIs, while Lindsay Kocian and Emma Weschler put away one RBI each. Weschler added a double and a single, while Kocian, Ledwik, Ashley Bridges and Lizzie Callis added a single.
    Ledwik pitched five strikeouts, 57 strikes, a walk and allowed three hits.

Cowgirls get into second round

    The Edna Cowgirls defeated Aransas Pass on Thursday, March 27, with a score of 6-5. Haley Orsak pitched a complete game for her fifth win of the season. Orsak also had a double hit and scored a run, plus Taylor Darilek’s double and RBI. Ashley Soto also added a double and two RBIs, while Tamara Mathis scored two runs for her team. Orsak gave up four hits pitching, and had seven strikeouts.

Golf will prevail

    The Edna girls golf team placed second at the District meet on March 24 in Victoria, with a team score of 467, and will advance to regionals. Individual scores are as follows: Khloé Karl 110, Kamryn Johnson 108 and placed third, Megan Kucera 136, Paxton Koop 126 and McKayla Marthiljohni 123.

     Keaton Crabb and Jonah Rodriguez each shot an 87 and will advance to regionals as well.

Lady Cobras win again with Garza

    A great effort by Madison Garza spurred the Industrial Lady Cobras to a 14-0 win in five innings over Goliad on Tuesday, March 25.
