William Dunham

William Lynn Dunham, 86, was born Feb. 12, 1928 and passed away March 17. He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, one sister and one grandson, Nicholas Dunham. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Anna Lois Dunham; daughter, Jan Masters and husband Michael; sons, William Lynn Dunham Jr. and wife Kathy and Steven Leigh Dunham; and three grandsons, Joshua, Zachary and Jason. Visitation will be Thursday, March 20 from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. A funeral service is scheduled Friday, March 21 at 10:15 a.m. followed by interment in the Houston National Cemetery at 11:30 a.m.

Carolyn Appling

    Carolyn Appling, 67 years, of Louise, passed away Wednesday, March 19, 2014, surrounded by her loving family. She was born July 24,1946 in El Campo, to the late Claude and Kathleen Menefee Appling. She graduated from Louise High School. She was a loving and caring homemaker.
    Carolyn is survived by her daughter, Perri Raz and husband Bo of Ganado; sons, Troy Appling and fiancée Lorena of Louiseand Carl Lostracco of Oklahoma; sisters, Kathleen Ellis and husband David of Louise and Claudine Ayres and husband John of Sealy; 12 grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
    Carolyn is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Carl Lostracco; brothers, Dick Appling, Clemons Appling and Robert Weldon Appling and a nephew, David Scott Ellis.
    Memorial services will be held Saturday, March 22, at 10 a.m., at the First Methodist Church in Ganado, with Rev. Dale White officiating.

Carl Herreth

    Carl Frank Herreth, 88, passed away on March 11, 2014, in Bryan.  He was born on April 30, 1925, in Collegeport, the son of Albert Casper and Elizabeth Clara (Garvender) Herreth. Carl grew up and attended schools in Jackson County.  In 1944, Carl enlisted in the United States Army, serving his country in World War II.  He was honorably discharged in 1946.
    Carl was united in marriage to Irene Josephine Pecha in Houston on May 1, 1948. He served as a commander of the Lolita VFW Post #8556.  He was a member of the Lolita Fire Department and served his community as a deputy constable for Jackson County. Carl also was a member of the A.F.L. – C.I.O. In, 1987 he retired from Alcoa Aluminum after serving 36 years as a welder. Carl and Irene made their home in Bellville in 1994.
    Carl is survived by his wife Irene; children Carl, Anton, Carol, David and John; 14 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

Delores DeLosSantos

    Delores DeLosSantos, 66, passed away Thursday, March 13, 2014. She was born May 25, 1947 in Ganado to the late Alberto and Florinda Reyes Martinez. Delores was an operator at the Inteplast Plant in Lolita.
    She is survived by her daughter, Vicky Garcia; sons, Bernardo III, Edward, Edwin DeLosSantos, Rene Garcia; and sisters, Mary Vasquez, Georgie Garcia, Toni Martin and Isabel Escamilla.
    She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Bernardo, sisters, Guadalupe Rosalez, Consuelo Rosalez and brother, John Martinez.
    Visitation will be Friday, March 14, 2014, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Ganado Funeral Home. Services will be Saturday, March 15 at 10 a.m. at the Soul's Harbor Baptist Church, Hwy 172 South, in Ganado. Interment will be in the Assumption Catholic Cemetery.
    Services are under the direction of Ganado Funeral Home, 800 So. Third St., 361-771-2120.

Lillie Ann "Chick" Robinson, (63) native of Hallettsville, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, March 5, 2014.

Ethel Condron LaPier

    Ethel Bates Nagelschmidt Condron LaPier, 96, of Edna, formerly of Pittsfield, Mass., passed away on March 8, 2014 with her family at her side in Ganado.
    Ethel was born Feb. 23, 1918 in Pittsfield, Mass. to John F. and Mabel E. Frederick Nagelschmidt.
    She was a graduate of Pittsfield High School, class of 1935 and was employed as a medical secretary for several area physicians until her marriage to Howard LaPier in 1977. After his death in 1999, she relocated to Edna.
    Survivors include her children, Frank P. Condron Jr. and his wife Peggy, John F. Condron and Mary Beth Condron LaPier of Edna, Priscilla Condron Black and husband David of Clemmons, NC and step-daughter Mabel LaPier Watson of Hancock, Mass.

Barney Janecka

    Barney Janecka, age 90, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 26, 2014. He was born April 24, 1923 in Inez to Willie and Rose Lesikar Janecka. He was a farmer, rancher and a carpenter.
    He is survived by his wife, Ida Jo Hamman Janecka; son, Bruce Janecka; and two grandchildren.
    He was preceded in death by his parents; son, William Tim Janecka; and sisters, Darlene Beopple and Charlene Janecka.
    Visitation was from 8 a.m. to 2 pm. on March 2, followed by a funeral service at Thiele-Cooper Funeral Home with Rev. Kenneth Parker and Rev. George Tompkins officiating. Burial was at Hebron Cemetery.
    Pallbearers were Jake Jacobs, Larry Brown, Jeff Brandes, Jim Loos, Almon Loos and Royce Stevens.
    Honorary pallbearers were W.T. Kneblich and John R. Dukes.
    In lieu of flowers, family request memorials be made to Warm Springs Specialty or Hebron Cemetery Association.

Jearlene Lawrence

    Jearlene O. Lawrence, 95, of Edna passed away Saturday, March 1, 2014. She was born in Cottenwood, Ark., on Oct. 11, 1918, to the late Arthur and Lou Creecie Martin Baker.
    She was a loving wife, mother and friend who will be dearly missed. She touched the hearts of everyone that knew her.
    Jearlene, is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
    She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Don Lawrence; son, Joe Carroll Lawrence, and her brother R.T. Baker.
    A graveside service will be held 10 a.m Tuesday, March 4 at the Memory Gardens of Edna Cemetery.

Willie Rios Sr.

    Willie Elizondo Rios Sr., 97, of Inez, passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 26, 2014. He was born in Gonzales on March 28, 1916 to the late Placido and Rafaela Elizondo Rios.
    Willie is survived by his sons, Willie Rios Jr. and wife Angie, Abundio Rios and wife Sarah, and Silgero Rios; daughters, Aurora Valdez, Lydia Huerta and husband George, Mary Sanchez, and Delores Robitaille and husband Bob; sisters, Dalia Rios, Amelia Hernandez and Maria Rios; 25 grandchildren; 62 great-grandchildren; and 15 great-great-grandchildren.
    He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Petra Trevino Rios; son, Felipe Rios; granddaughter, Francis Rios; grandson, Ramiro Valdez Jr.; and great-grandson, Jeremiah Hargett.
    Visitation will begin at 8:30 a.m. with Rosary at 10:30 a.m. and followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m. on Monday March 3 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Inez with the Rev. Gabriel officiating. Interment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery.
