Bobby Gregory

    Bobby Eugene Gregory, passed away Friday, April 25, 2014 at the age of 77. He was born March 22, 1937 in Edna, to Lonnie E. and Rosie Lee Tompkins Gregory.
    Bobby was a loving husband, and father who will be missed dearly.
    He is survived by his loving wife, Della Gregory of Edna; son, Bobby Dale Gregory; two grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
    Bobby is preceded in death by his parents.
    A private family gathering will be held at a later date.
    Arrangements are under the direction of Oaklawn Funeral Home in Edna. 361-782-2221.

Thomas Stovall

    Thomas Stovall, 92, a long-time resident of Edna, passed away on Tuesday, April 29, 2014. He was born July 16, 1921 to the late Ida "Big Mama" and Herbert "Pap" Stovall.
    He is preceded in death by his parents; and daughter, Ida Linda Grays.
    Visitation was held from 10 - 11 a.m. with a funeral service at 11 a.m. on Monday, May 5 at Shiloh Baptist Church, 604 Martin Luther King, Edna. Burial followed at Sayles Cemetery.
    Services entrusted to Tracy's M.J. Santellana Funeral Directors, 361-782-9234.

Shannon Rozner

    Shannon Marie Rozner, of Ganado, passed away Tuesday, April 28, 2014 at the age of 49.  She was born in Ganado on Oct. 31, 1964, to the late Robert L. “Tony” Rozner and Charlette Sue Rozner.
    Shannon was a loving daughter, sister and aunt. She will be missed dearly.
    Shannon is survived by her brothers, Robert Lee “Robby” Rozner II of Inez and Van Jason Rozner and wife Kim of Midfield; uncle, Charlie Joseph Schafer of Ganado; nephews, Brian, Blake, Brent, Blaine, and Brandon and one niece, Brianna.
    Shannon is preceded in death by her parents.
    Visitation will be Friday, May 2 from 5-7 p.m., at Oaklawn Funeral Home.  Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, May 3, at Oaklawn Funeral Home in Edna. Burial will follow in Olivia Cemetery. Rev. Bernard Ritchea will be officiating.
    Pallbearers will be her niece and nephews. Honorary pallbearers are Kelly Janica, Travis Janica, Kenneth Hadley Jr. and Steve Andel.

Estella Pena

Estella Jane Pena, 73 passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 29, 2014, with her family by her side. She was born June 28, 1940 in Ganado to the late Pedro and Carlota Aguilar Tristan. Estella attended Ganado High School and graduated in 1958. She was also a graduate of Durham Business College in Victoria.
    She married Marias Pena, Jr. on Aug. 27, 1960. Estella and Mat are the owners of Estella's Mexican Restaurant located in Ganado.
    Estella is survived by her husband of 52 years Marias Pena, Jr.; two daughters, Molisa (husband Misail ) Cortez and Monica (husband Jessie) Arriaga, both of Ganado. She is also survived by her brother Albert (wife Gaynell) Tristan of Victoria. She really adored her four grandchildren and five step-grandchildren and her four great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews, all of Ganado.
    Visitation will be Thursday May 1 from 5 to 8 p.m. with a rosary recited at 7 p.m., at the Ganado Funeral Home.

Hubert Moody

    H.E. Moody, of Edna passed away Sunday, April 27, 2014 at the age of 98. He was born in Allen, Okla., on Aug. 20, 1915, to Byron Reagan Moody and Maggie Lou Rodgers Moody.
    Hubert attended public schools in Stroud, Okla. He was a Navy Seabee during World War II and was employed by Magnolia Petroleum Company, now ExxonMobil, for 43 years, retiring in 1980. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and uncle. He will be truly missed.
    He married Jessie Mae Hensley on April 30, 1940. He is survived by his wife of 74 years and their three children; Martha Sue Davis (Paul) of Edna, Janice Louise Sijansky (Danny) of Katy and Charles Eugene Moody (Vicki) of Mansfield; grandchildren, Kevin Sijansky, Sarah Sijansky, Ryan Moody and Kyle Moody; great-grandchildren, Gavin, Leighton, Ella Kate and Caroline Sijansky; brother, Paul Moody; and sister, Virginia Piepke.

Greg Harvey

Greg Harvey, 66, of Edna, passed away on Friday, April 25, 2014 at a Victoria hospital. He was born Feb. 10, 1948 in Huntsville to the late Delvin and Florine Harvey. He was a heavy equipment operator.
    He is survived by his wife, Rose Harvey of Edna; daughter, Teri; sons, Dennis Harvey, Timmy Harvey, Albert Harvey, and Robert Harvey.
    He is preceded in death by his parents.
    Private services will be held by the family.

Mrs. Leo Bishop

    Mrs. Leo O. Bishop, 100, of El Campo, passed away on Tuesday, April 22, 2014. She was born in Ganado on Oct. 28, 1913 to A.B. and Mary Sodia.
    She is survived by two daughters and other family members.
    Funeral services were April 26 at Mt. Sinai Missionary Baptist Church in El Camp.
    Arrangements under the direction of Tracy’s M.J. Santellana Funeral Directors, Edna.

Steven Wyer

    Steven Lamar Wyer, of Channelveiw, passed away Wednesday, April 23, 2014 at the age of 54.  He was born Dec. 28, 1959, in Ganado, to Dorothy Campbell and the late Leon L. Wyer. 
    Steven was a loving son, father, brother and friend and will be missed dearly.
    He is survived by his daughter, Stephany Schubert of Luling; stepsons, Eddie Weise and Jay Weise; stepfather, Billy Campbell; sister, Lee Ann Miller of Waxahachie; brother, Randy Kucera of Victoria; grandchildren, Laiden and Weston, also survived by his close friend; Loretta Davis.
    Graveside service will be on Monday, April, 28, 2014 at 10 a.m., in the Memory Gardens Cemetery of Edna. Pastor Jack Bourland will be officiating.

Dick Thomas

    Dick Thomas, age 94, formerly of Edna and Ganado, passed away on Friday, April 18, 2014.
    He was born on Feb. 2, 1920 to Columbus and Leitha Rose Einkhoff Thomas.
    He was a lineman for 40 years with CP&L and a Baptist. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII and was in the Battle of the Bulge.
    Survivors include his wife, Barbara Schoebel Thomas; daughters, Lana Thomas Dulany of Eagle Lake, Lisa Nance of Blessing and Ursula Davenport of Yoakum; sons, Larry Johnson of Port Lavaca and Reed Johnson of Yoakum; 11 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; sisters, Ruth Hatfield of Houston and Selma Demierville of Corpus Christi.
    He was preceded in death by parents; wife, Dovie Cleveland Thomas; daughter, Linda Laverne Thomas; seven sisters and three brothers.
    Visitation was April 22, 2014 at the funeral home.

Ronnie Ray Hengst

    Ronald Ray Hengst, of Edna, passed away Thursday, April 17, 2014 at the age of 46, from a horrific traffic accident in Wharton County. He was born in Victoria, on Sept. 15, 1967.
    Ronnie was a brilliant son, carpenter, computer repairman, mechanic, painter and Mustang enthusiast.
    Ronnie is survived by his father, Donald R. Hengst, "new mom" Leslie Hengst; sisters, Sharon Hamilton of Houston, Deborah Hunt of Austin and Jaime and Chelsea Young of Victoria; brothers, David Gloor of Edna and Wayne Gloor of Ganado.
    He is preceded in death by his mother; Rosalie Hengst; twin brother Donald J. Hengst; grandmother, Florance Gerhold; grandfathers, Charlie Nickel and Roland Hengst; brothers, Charles Roland Hengst and Michael Gloor.
    Graveside service will be held on Saturday, April 26 at 11 a.m. at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Edna. Reverend George Tompkins will be officiating.
