Ethel Condron LaPier

    Ethel Bates Nagelschmidt Condron LaPier, 96, of Edna, formerly of Pittsfield, Mass., passed away on March 8, 2014 with her family at her side in Ganado.
    Ethel was born Feb. 23, 1918 in Pittsfield, Mass. to John F. and Mabel E. Frederick Nagelschmidt.
    She was a graduate of Pittsfield High School, class of 1935 and was employed as a medical secretary for several area physicians until her marriage to Howard LaPier in 1977. After his death in 1999, she relocated to Edna.
    Survivors include her children, Frank P. Condron Jr. and his wife Peggy, John F. Condron and Mary Beth Condron LaPier of Edna, Priscilla Condron Black and husband David of Clemmons, NC and step-daughter Mabel LaPier Watson of Hancock, Mass.
    She is also survived by 12 grandchildren, Stephanie Condron Hall, Michael Condron, Pamela Condron Neuman, Angela Condron Svoboda, Denise LaPier Arndt, Michele LaPier Barnes, James LaPier, Adam Black, Joshua Black, John A. Condron, Katherine and Elizabeth Condron, 20 great-grandchildren, four-great-great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
    In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her two brothers and four sisters, her former husband, Francis P. Condron Sr., stepson Howard F. LaPier and three grandchildren.
    Visitation and memory sharing will be Thursday, March 13 from 5 to 7 p.m., with a rosary to be recited at 7 p.m., at Oaklawn Funeral Home in Edna. Funeral Mass will be held Friday, March 14 at 10 a.m., at St. Agnes Church in Edna. Rev. Michael Petering will be officiating. A memorial celebration of her life will be in the spring at St. Mark's Church in Pittsfield, Mass. followed by burial in the Pittsfield Cemetery.
    In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of South Texas, 605 E. Locust St., Victoria, Texas 77901.
