Lovie Jo Haney

Lovie Jo Haney, of Edna, passed away on Saturday, Feb. 18, 2017, at the age of 84. She was born on Dec. 6, 1932, in Goliad, to the late Richard Slaughter and Lula Wofford Slaughter.
Jo was a secretary at City Motors for 16 years before she retired. She was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and very dear friend who will be greatly missed.
She is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Kenneth W. Haney; daughter, Lisa Nairn and her husband Rocky; sons, Richard Haney and his wife Brenda, M. Keith Haney and his wife Debbie; sisters, Hazel Brooks, Louella Mackey, and Linda Nieman; brother, Jerry Pat Fortenberry; grandchildren, Craig Nairn, Elizabeth Duarte, Amanda Haney, Veronica Haney, Samantha Haney, Casey Haney, Garrett Haney, and Matthew Haney; ten, great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.

Doris Fowler

Doris Fowler, of Ganado, passed away from this earthly life into the waiting arms of her Father, God, on Monday, Feb. 13, 2017, at the age of 88 years, 2 months and 25 days.
She was born in the small community of Plainview to Emil and Edna Bodungen Cihal and at the age of five the family moved to Ganado. She was preceded in death by her parents, her stepmother, Millie Kloesel Cihal, brothers: William Franklin Cihal and Ervin Cihal; sisters: Lillian Jones, Dorothy Conner and Wilma Willoughby, and by their wives and husbands: and her husbands: William Franklin George and Bruce Daniel Fowler.

Jarrett Parker

Jarrett Paul Parker, 33, of Edna, went to be with the Lord on Feb. 7. He was born on Sept. 15, 1983 in Victoria to Don Parker and Debra Taylor.
Jarrett was a 4th generation veteran and a Tech Sergeant in the United States Air Force.
He is survived by his parents, Debra and Daryl W. Taylor and Don C. and Annette Parker, siblings Michael Taylor, Tina Fox, Alexander Taylor; grandmothers Matilda Longoria and Carolyn Taylor; and a host of extended family members, military family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents Doyce Taylor, Robert Anton Dybala, and Frank and Dorothy Tompkins.
Visitation and funeral service were held on Feb. 12 at First Baptist Church, Edna with Rev. Robert Krause officiating. Interment followed in Memory Gardens of Edna.

Juan Samora

Juan Estevis Samora, of Edna went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2017, at the age of 78. He was born on June 24, 1938, in Edna, to the late Manuel Samora and Rafaela Ramirez Samora.
Juan was the former pastor and founder of Monte Calvario Pentecostal Church in 1970, until retiring after 25 years, now known as New Harvest Church. He was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, cousin, and friend who will be dearly missed.

Bobby Warren

Bobby Warren arrived in the great state of Texas Feb., 5th, 1956, and departed Feb. 2, 2017.
Bobby is survived by his faithful companion Susan Baker and extended family; brothers John Warren and wife Kathy of Point Comfort and Aubrey (BO) Warren and wife Joann of Point Comfort.
A funeral service was 10:30 a.m. on Feb. 7 at St. Agnes Church in Edna, followed by graveside service in Olivia.

Jimmie Roznovsky

Jimmie J. Roznovsky, 70, joined his heavenly family, Saturday, Feb. 5, 2017. He was born June 2, 1946 in Blanco to the late Albert and Pearl Renken Roznovsky.
He served in the Army National Guard and retired from Alcoa after 44 years of service. He was a member of The Assumption of Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Ganado and was a 4th Degree KC.
He was known as “Poppa Roz” always the first to volunteer and had a generous spirit to help anyone in need. Over the years he was involved in several activities such as Alter Serving, Eucharistic Minister, Marriage Encounter, ACTS and Kolbe Prison Ministry, and Park Host, serving the community and our Lord where ever needed.

Betty Jo. McKibbon

Mary Jo McKibbon, 85, of Port Lavaca passed away Feb. 1, 2017. She was born on June 3, 1931, in Palo Pinto, Texas. She was a Methodist. Mary Jo retired from First National Bank as assistant vice president in April, 1999 after 38 years of service. She enjoyed many years as a volunteer for Calhoun County Community Ministries and the Food Pantry.
Mary Jo is survived by her two children: daughter, Marolyn (Jim) Cummins and son, Edward L. “Sonny” (Rhonda) McKibbon, Jr.; 8 loving grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; one niece and two nephews; her very special friends, Robert Howe, Joyce Kainer and Earlene Muenster. She held a very special place in her heart for David, Cindy, Tommy and Bobby Long.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jim and Clona Chesnut; husband, Edward L. McKibbon; infant son; brother, James Clark and grandson, Michael Smart.

Betty Lou Green

Betty Lou 'Nana' Green, Nana and Papa are together again. Betty, of Prairieville, La., passed away peacefully on Saturday, Jan. 21, 2017 following a lengthy battle with Alzheimer's disease at the age of 88.
Betty was born in Limestone County, Texas, was a long-time resident of Edna and Victoria and graduated from Edna High School. Though she is resting peacefully in Jesus' arms, her family will miss her.
Nana was a fantastic wife to Tom and loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved her family deeply. Though she was a gifted artist on canvas and porcelain she will be most remembered for her kind spirit. Her sweet personality always broke through the foggy mind-and although she forgot names and relationships, she smiled when she saw us, and was always pleasant and jovial. Everyone was “sweetie”.

Mary Pahmiyer

Mary E. Pahmiyer, 75, of Ganado, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2017. She was born April 21, 1941 to the late Lucile Kelton Rainey. Mary was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great grandmother who will be missed dearly by all her loved ones.
Mary is survived by her sons Johnny (Bonny) Pahmiyer of Ganado, Ronnie ( Janet) Pahmiyer of Calallen, Robert Pahmiyer of Edna; and daughters Donna (Tommy) Terry of Edna, Debbie Pahmiyer Ward of Dickinson, Tx. and Mary Kaye Pahmiyer of Ganado. Also surviving are 20 grandchildren, 44 great-grandchildren,and five great-great grandchildren.
Mary is preceded in death by her mother, Lucile and her step-father Joe Fojtik, husband John B. Pahmiyer, her grandsons, John Grady Morton and John Edward Pahmiyer, Jr.
Visitation and funeral service was Feb. 4 at Slavik Funeral Home, Edna. Interment was in the Memory Gardens~ Edna Cemetery following chapel services.

Linda Hamons

Linda Ann Hamons, of Ganado, went to be with the Lord on Friday, Jan. 27, 2017 at the age of 68. She was born in El Campo on March 21, 1948, to the late Lee D. Hamons, Sr. and Laura A. Wied.
Linda was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend who will be missed dearly. Linda was El Campo’s very first polio victim of 1949. She was a patient at the Gonzales Warm Springs Foundation on and off throughout her childhood where she underwent many surgeries.
She had a lovely voice and was chosen to sing at numerous events including the annual Christmas party at the Arabia Temple Crippled Children’s clinic in Houston as well as many other benefits and charity balls in Wharton County.
On June 4, 1966, she married her sweetheart Wayne and moved to Bay City. Against medical advice, she had two children, and was a stay at home wife and mother.
