Florence Buerger Henske

Florence Buerger Henske, 86, of Eagle Lake passed away Friday, May 26, 2017 in El Campo. She was born Aug. 19, 1930 to the late Henry and Mary Buerger.
On Sept. 26, 1948 she married Fred Henske in New Wehdem, Texas. The couple lived in Ganado a number of years where she was employed as a nurse, They moved to Eagle Lake in 1965 where she continued as a nurse for Dr. Raymond Thomas, and Jose Ugarte. She also was a nurse in Sealy then was a lab technician for Riceland up until she retired. She was a member of the American Legion Auxillary Post in Ganado, East Bernard, and El Campo.
She is survived by sons and daughters in law, Jerry Henske and wife, Linda of Banquete, Mike Henske and wife, Penny of Eagle Lake, Mark Henske and wife, Anita of Eagle Lake, sister-in-law, Annie Mae Buerger of Brenham, 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

John Gordon Laughter, Jr.

John Gordon Laughter, Jr., was born on December 18, 1919, in Jackson, County to the late John Gordon Laughter, Sr. and wife, Carrie Kone Fisher Laughter, both descendants of pioneer Texan settlers.
He was educated in the Edna schools, Schreiner College in Kerrville and A&I College in Kingsville. He was a licensed civil engineer, retired from TxDOT.
He is survived by his daughter, Katherine Francis Laughter Kamal of Cairo, Egypt and nieces and nephews.
John is preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Annalee Laughter Ratliff and Mary Laughter Frels of Edna; and a brother, William Pierce Laughter, A member of the U.S. Marine Corp who was KIA on Okinawa June 21, 1945.
He was a member of the Masonic Fraternities for over seventy years and Past Master of both Edna and Victoria Masonic Lodgers. He was a 32 degree Scottish Rite K.C.C.H., a Knight Templar and a Noble of Al Amin Shrine of Corpus Christi.

Richard Arlen Ellison

Richard Arlen Ellison, of Edna, passed away on Thursday, June 1, 2017 at the age of 78. He was born on August 6, 1938 in Edna, Texas, to the late Raymond Marvin Ellison and Iva Lee Roberts Ellison.
Richard proudly served in the United States Air Force from 1955 to 1959. He retired from the Texas Department of Public Safety in 1993 after 36 years of service and was a Patron-level Life Member of the National Rifle Association. He was a loving husband, father, brother, and grandfather who will be deeply missed.
Richard is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Hazel LaVerne Wilkerson Ellison; daughter, Terri Lynn Hicks; son, Ronald Wayne Ellison and his wife Chris; sister, Mary Nell Tomas; brother, Raymond Marvin Ellison, Jr.; grandchildren, Misty Nicole Wells, Jeremy Wayne Hicks and his wife Amanda; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
In addition to his parents, Richard is preceded in death by his sister, Anna Mae Ellison.

Jimmie Marie Woodward Fiedler

Jimmie Marie DeAtley Woodward Fiedler, of Victoria formerly of Edna, passed away on Tuesday, May 30, 2017, with her loving family by her side. She was born on May 19, 1931 in Long Mott, Texas to the late James Herman DeAtley, Sr. and Maria Elizabeth Phillips DeAtley.
Jimmie was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend who will be dearly missed.
Jimmie is survived by her daughters, Cheryl Woodward Rodgers, Claudia Woodward Kallus and her husband Harvey, Karen Woodward Gregory and her husband David; son, Bradford Kimp Woodward, III. and his wife Yvonne; sister, Carolyn DeAtley Behrendt and her husband Vernon; brother, Donald H. DeAtley; a special sister-in-law, Carol DeAtley; fourteen grandchildren; twenty-nine great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

Joycelyn Renay Patterson

Joycelyn Renay Patterson, 59, of Conroe passed away on Friday, May 12, 2017. Renay was born on Jan. 25, 1958 in Ganado to Adeline (T’Baby) and Vernon Ramey Sr. She graduated from Edna High School, and continued on to attend Victoria College.
Renay married the love of her life Frederick “Ricky” Patterson Jr. on Aug. 12, 1972. They were married for 44 years.
Renay is preceeded in death by her parents, grandmother Mrs. Carrie Ramey, and four brothers.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory her husband, Frederick Ricky Patterson, daughters Trinda Patterson of Phoenix, Ariz., Ricka Gonzalez from Miami, Fla., Je’Nese Moore of Houston, LaToya “Moka” Patterson of Dallas; seven grandchildren; seven sisters and three brothers.
Prior to the service and visitation in Edna a visitation will be held in Houston.

Emilie Annie Kusak

Emilie Annie Kusak, 104, of Victoria passed away surrounded by loved ones May 12, 2017. Emilie was born Oct. 8, 1912 in Granger, Texas to the late Joe and Anna Kokes. Emilie lived on a farm and was a woman of many talents. She loved raising her chickens, working in her garden, canning peaches and pears, was an excellent cook and a one of a kind grandmother. Emilie truly enjoyed spending time with her family. She was a member of St. Theresa’s Catholic Church in LaSalle,Texas and a member of their Altar Society.

Robin Parks Polk

Robin Parks Polk, 50, of Ganado, passed away on Thursday, May 11, 2017. Robin was born on May 18, 1966 in Ganado to Johnny and Carol Arnett Parks. She graduated from Ganado High School in 1984 and continued on to Cosmetology School, after operating her own salon in Ganado for several years, she then attended Victoria Nursing School to become an LVN. She worked for several years as a nurse for United Healthcare.
Robin married the love of her life, Matthew Polk, on March 28, 2017. With her love of music, Robin was a member of the Praise Band at First United Methodist Church in Ganado. Robin devoted her life to her family and taking care of others.
Robin is preceded in death by her parents, Johnny and Carol Arnett Parks, and Charles Peel; her grandparents, Wayne Arnett, Raymond and Jean Young, Oneeda and J.Y. Parks; and her cousin Kaylee Kacer.

Beverly Madden

Beverly Jean Robbins Madden passed away on May 8, 2017. She was born on Thursday, August 8, 1929 in Wichita Falls to Virgil "Homer" Robbins and Clara Hassie Harbour Robbins. Beverly was a medical aid for over 20 years in Wichita Falls, she moved to Ganado in 1980 and worked as a bookkeeper for Jones and Allen for 22 years. Beverly was a member of the First Baptist Church of Ganado. She loved being in her yard, where she enjoyed feeding, watering, and watching the birds. She had many pets over the years, and her most recent dog, Deigo, was very special to her. She was blessed with a very large family and they were her pride and joy.

Gilbert Sattler

Gilbert Glenn Sattler, 92, passed away on Tuesday, May 9, 2017. He was born on Tuesday, July 15, 1924 in Los Angeles, Calif. to Erno J. Sattler and Lydia Rheinlander Sattler. In 1931 Gilbert and his parents moved to Jackson County and on July 3, 1954 Gilbert married the love of his life, Helen Marie Holstien, and together they had one son, Erno. Gilbert worked for City Motors and was an appliance service technician.
Gilbert is survived by his son Erno; and his sister-in-law Vera Holstien.
Gilbert has been preceded in death by his parents, and his wife Helen Marie Sattler.
Visitation is Friday, May 12 from 9 to 10:30 a.m., with funeral service beginning at 10:30 a.m. at Slavik ~Edna Funeral Home Chapel, interment immediately follows at Memory Gardens of Edna.
Services have been entrusted to Russell Todish of Slavik ~ Edna Funeral Home, 361-782-2152.
