Troy Allen Stephenson, of Inez, passed away on Friday, Jan. 27, 2017, with his loving family by his side at the age of 46. He was born in Cotulla on Jan. 8, 1971, to Allen Boyd Stephenson and Sharon Lee Mercer Stephenson.

Dorothy Waynick

Dorothy Marie Waynick, 84, loving wife, mother and grandmother went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, Jan. 24, 2017. She was born on Monday, June 6, 1932 to Emil and Martha Schulte Roehl in Ganado, Texas.
Dorothy is survived by her husband of 61 years, Thomas Waynick of Ganado; daughter, Lisa Wiggins of Houston; sons, Thomas C. Waynick and wife Diane of Midland and Jeff Waynick of Ganado; their grandchildren, Stephen Waynick of Columbus, Ga., Daniel Waynick of New York City, and Sara Wiggins of Auburn, Ala. She is also survived by her sister Altha Hall of Missouri City; her nieces Rhonda Courter and Tira Lamb; as well as her nephew, Warren Hall.
Visitation will be begin at 9 a.m. , followed with a service at 10 a.m., Saturday Jan. 28, at St. James Lutheran Church in Ganado, with Pastor Chris Heinold officiating. Interment will follow in the Ganado Cemetery.

Paul Samora Jr.

Paul Samora, Jr., 72, passed away on Jan. 23, 2017.
Services were Jan. 28 in the chapel of Tracy's MJ Santellana Funeral Directors, 1402 W. Main, Edna with visitation from 10 to 11 a.m., and the service at 11 a.m.
Burial was in the Latin American Cemetery, Edna.
Arrangements under the direction of Tracy’s MJ Santellana Funeral Directors.

Lillie Hahn

Lillie Kucera Hahn, went to rest with her Heavenly Father on Jan. 26, 2017. Born Aug. 16, 1921 to the late Steve and Mary Kucera, Lillie was born and raised in Ganado.
She is survived by her daughters, Nettie Hahn Weaver and her husband James of Bay City and Jeanette Kramer of Victoria; five grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Mary Jane Kresta of Ganado; and multiple nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Richard W.; son Ronnie Richard; and daughter Lorraine Mae Hahn; her sisters Albina and Lydia; and brothers Joe, John, Steve, Frank, Will and Charles.
Visitation was Jan. 29 from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Ganado Funeral Home Chapel, and funeral services will be Monday, Jan. 30 at 10 a.m. at the St. James Lutheran Church in Ganado with Pastor Chris Heinold officiating. Interment will follow in the Ganado Cemetery.

Sybil Stephens

Sybil Stephens, 96, of Edna, passed away on Friday, Jan. 20, 2017. She was born on July 3, 1920 in Pennington, Texas to R. T. Reynolds and Carrie Kennedy Reynolds.
Sybil is survived by her daughter Wanda Ruth Dawson and her husband Tommy; her sons John Douglas Hayman and his wife Linda, and Kenneth Milam Hayman and his wife Cathy; as well as seven grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; also her sister Anita Magee and her brother Jim Henry Reynolds.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her first husband Wesley Milam Hayman, her second husband Durvin Dale Stephens, and her sister Dimple Stubblefield.
Visitation will be Monday, Jan. 23 at 1 p.m. followed by the funeral service at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Edna with Brother Robert Krause officiating and assisted by Brother Kenneth Hayman.
Services have been entrusted to Russell Todish of Slavik ~ Edna Funeral Home, 361-782-2152.

Vera Mae Prejean Harrah-White

Vera Mae Prejean Harrah-White, 96, passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 18, 2017. She was born on Dec. 26, 1920 in Rayne, La. to the late John Prejean and Alma Wagoner Prejean.
As a young woman, Vera Mae served her country during World War II by working in an aircraft manufacturing plant as one of the famed “Rosie the Riveters.” After the war, she decided to pursue a career outside the home at a time when this was not a typical choice for a woman. Her career continued for many years with many accolades and recognitions for her outstanding contributions.
Vera Mae had a long and distinguished career in the newspaper business. She began her career as a reporter at the Rayne Tribune in Rayne, La., and she continued working at newspapers in Louisiana, California, and Texas, gaining responsibility until attaining the position of Editor-in-Chief of The Edna Herald and The Ganado Tribune.

Victoria Marroquin

Victoria Marroquin, 87 formerly of Ganado, passed away on Sunday, Jan. 15, 2017 at her home in Houston. She was born on Dec. 23, 1929 in Edna, to Juan and Regina Gonzalez Vasquez. Victoria married Salvador Marroquin and together they raised their seven children.
Victoria is survived by her four daughters, three sons, 24 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren, as well as one sister.
Visitation was Tuesday, Jan. 17, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. with Rosary at 7 p.m. at Ganado Funeral Home Chapel. A Funeral Mass was Wednesday, Jan. 18 at 10 a.m. at Assumption Catholic Church with interment to follow at Assumption Catholic Cemetery with Rev. Kirby Hlavaty officiating.
Services have been entrusted to Russell Todish of Ganado Funeral Home, 361-771-2120.

Beverley Jo Gaubatz

Beverely Jo Litvik Gaubatz, 69, passed away on Jan. 10, 2017. She was born July 31, 1947 to Edwin Jo Litvik and Ruth Bernice Maden Litvik.
She is preceded in death by sister, Ruth Ann Litvik Fojtik.
She is survived by her children Deana Lynn Lewis and Jeremy Jo Gaubatz; sister, Debra Lynn Litvik McGee; and five grandchildren.
A private memorial service will be held on Jan. 21.

Edward Jurica

Edward J. Jurica, 77, of Inez passed away on Thursday, Jan. 5, 2017 after a lengthy illness. He was born on Dec. 22, 1939 in Victoria to Edmund Benedict and Frances Shimek Jurica.
He was a lifetime member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Inez.
Edward is survived by his daughter, Liz Jurica; sons, Tommie Jurica and Eddie Jurica; sisters, Edna Tesch and Georgia Lee Gabrysch Parker; numerous grandchildren, nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Jennifer Jurica; son, Daniel Edward Jurica; sister, Rose Lee Yendrey; brothers, Leroy Jurica and Alton Jurica.
Visitation was held Thursday, Jan. 12 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Grace Funeral Home with a rosary at 7 p.m.
The funeral Mass was Friday, Jan. 13 at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Inez with Rev. Barnabas Kyeah officiating.
Pallbearers were Curtis Gabrysch, Richie Tesch, Darryl Tesch, Jason Tesch, Dennis Jurica and Harold Jurica.

Robert Estrada

Robert "Robbie" C. Estrada, Jr. 41, passed away on Thursday, Jan. 5. He was born on Jan. 24, 1975 in Ganado, to Robert C. Estrada, Sr. and Laura "Frieda" Riojas Estrada. Robbie attended 2 years at the Culinary Art Institute, he was currently working for Inteplast in Lolita.
Robbie is survived by his parents, his sisters Erica Lynn Estrada and Laurie Brooks Estrada, his brothers Eric R. Estrada and Garrett Erin Estrada; also by his grandmother Shirley C. Estrada.
Robbie is preceded in death by his grandparents Mike Riojas, Sr. and Eloise Riojas, also his grandfather Arthur G. Estrada.
There will be a Celebration Of Life Service on Saturday, Jan. 14, at 10 a.m. at Ganado Funeral Home Chapel.
Services have been entrusted to Russell Todish of Ganado Funeral Home, Ganado, 361-771-2120.
