Betty Lou Green

Betty Lou 'Nana' Green, Nana and Papa are together again. Betty, of Prairieville, La., passed away peacefully on Saturday, Jan. 21, 2017 following a lengthy battle with Alzheimer's disease at the age of 88.
Betty was born in Limestone County, Texas, was a long-time resident of Edna and Victoria and graduated from Edna High School. Though she is resting peacefully in Jesus' arms, her family will miss her.
Nana was a fantastic wife to Tom and loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved her family deeply. Though she was a gifted artist on canvas and porcelain she will be most remembered for her kind spirit. Her sweet personality always broke through the foggy mind-and although she forgot names and relationships, she smiled when she saw us, and was always pleasant and jovial. Everyone was “sweetie”.
She is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law: Thomas Stephen and Kathleen Mary, David Austin and Judith Jay, and Mark Alan and Emma Susan Marie Green; six grandchildren, Travis Stephen, Emily Marie (Picou), Gerard Michael, Benjamin Tyler, Andrew Frederick and Mary Frances Green; six great-grandchildren, Aubrey Jeanne-Marie (Picou), Sarah Paige, Aiden Scott (Picou), Claire Siobhan, Emile Badeaux and Jolie Renee Green; four sisters: Maudie Elaine Darr, Linda Sue Childers, Sandra Kay Anderson and Sharon Ann Fischer and one brother Carl Lee Cox.
She was preceded in death by her parents Alma Carl and Ruby Irene Cox, two sisters, Carnell Putnam and Jerry Juanita Loudermilk, and one brother, Kenneth Wayne Cox.
A memorial service was held on Feb. 4 at Edna First United Methodist Church.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Alzheimer's Association 225 N. Michigan Ave., FL 17, Chicago IL 60601 alz.org or Fight SMA 8016 Staples Mill Rd., Richmond, VA 23228, FightSMA.org.
Local arrangements under the direction of Slavik~Edna Funeral Home, 361-782-2152.
