Emilie Annie Kusak

Emilie Annie Kusak, 104, of Victoria passed away surrounded by loved ones May 12, 2017. Emilie was born Oct. 8, 1912 in Granger, Texas to the late Joe and Anna Kokes. Emilie lived on a farm and was a woman of many talents. She loved raising her chickens, working in her garden, canning peaches and pears, was an excellent cook and a one of a kind grandmother. Emilie truly enjoyed spending time with her family. She was a member of St. Theresa’s Catholic Church in LaSalle,Texas and a member of their Altar Society.
Emilie is survived by her daughters, Mary Ann Ohrt (Toby) of Victoria, Lillie Mae Schoener of Victoria; son, Johnny L. Kusak (Kathryn) of Victoria; daughter-in-law Elaine Kusak; sisters, Agnes Vincik of LaSalle, Frances Billings of Spring; grandchildren, Jackie Slusher (Russell) of Victoria, Monica Powitzky (Cody) of Victoria, Toby Ohrt Jr. (Beth) of Cuero, Tommy Ohrt (Sheila) of Victoria, Joey Kusak (Cindy) of LaSalle, David Kusak (Amie) of Olivia, Jason “JJ” Kusak (Tanya) of LaSalle, Jaymie Sciba (Will) of Victoria, Pam Zapalac (Toby) of Victoria, Mark Schoener (Debbie) of Victoria, Scott Schoener (Ana) of Ohio; 26 great-grandchildren; 7 great great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Joe F. Kusak; son, Joe J. Kusak; son in law, Larry Schoener; sisters, Mary Shijka, Vlasta White, and Annie McDonald; brothers, Eddie, Joe, Frank and John Kokes.
A rosary will be recited Tuesday, May 16, at 9:30 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church with a funeral mass to begin at 10 a.m. A reception will immediately follow.
A graveside service will be at 2 p.m., Tuesday, May 16, at St. Theresa’s Cemetery in LaSalle.
Pallbearers will be Toby Ohrt, Jr., Tommy Ohrt, Joey Kusak, David Kusak, Jason “JJ” Kusak, Mark Schoener and Scott Schoener.
