The Edna Cowgirls (30-12-1, 12-7) volleyball varsity team played a quarterfinal match against the Palacios Sharkettes (20-9, 4-1) in Victoria and won in three, 25-22, 29-27 and 25-21. Fans were abundant on both sides as cheerleaders from each school revved up the crowd with loud cheers.
The Edna Cowgirls will be leaving today to play Regional Semi-Finals. They will be riding through Edna around 11:20-11-35am... please come show your support on main street and the courthouse lawn, as their bus comes through town... BASTROP – To have a chance to upset the No. 8 team in the state Thursday, the Edna Cowboys knew they would have to play mistake-free football.
So when Edna had a first and goal at the Cameron Yoe 8 in the closing minute of the first quarter, the Cowboys seemed poised to take advantage. But DeOntae Jones’ touchdown run was wiped off the board because of an Edna penalty.

The Edna Cowboys finished up district play on the road with a loss to the Rice Raiders 46-42.
“Our team really came together in the second half,” said Dylan Kallus. “We’re going to work on tackling more and our secondary team worrying about covering their man. We’re going to come out and be more prepared next time.”
