Geraldine Schoeneberg

    Geraldine "Jerry" Schoeneberg, 87, of Cordele, embraced her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Feb. 14, 2015. She passed away with her family by her side. She was born Dec. 14, 1927 in Orange Grove to the late Virgil and Mary Jarrell Lambert.
    She married Herbert Schoeneberg in Alice on June 24, 1947. Geraldine and Herbert made their home together in Ganado where they owned and operated Schoeneberg Electric.
    Geraldine was a beloved wife, mother, sister and aunt. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church where for many years she taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. Geraldine and Herbert were active members of the Ganado Mustang Squares. She had a great love for art, crafts and animals.

Joseph J.J. Bubela

Joseph James (J.J.) Bubela, 70, of Edna, formerly of El Campo, passed away Feb. 7, 2015. He was a devoted husband, a loving father, and an adoring grandfather. He was also the owner of JJ Bubela’s Floor Center in El Campo.
    J.J. was born Feb. 1, 1945 in El Campo, to the late Joe Charles and Mary Frnka Bubela. He graduated from El Campo High School in 1963 and married Monica Malek July 8, 1965. The couple would have celebrated 50 years of marriage this year.
    J.J. was an active member of St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church for more than 40 years, serving as an Eucharistic minister, a former St. Philip Catholic School board member, and a 3rd Degree Member of the Knights of Columbus Council 2490. The couple moved to Jackson County in 2008 and are currently members of St. Agnes Catholic Church in Edna.

James Robinson

James L. Robinson 82, of Edna passed away on Feb. 4, 2015. He was born on Aug. 12, 1933 in Edna to the late Jessie Robinson and Mertell Edwards Robinson.
    He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Nora Gipson,
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Virdell Robinson, daughter, Patricia Thornton; sons, Andrew Robinson, Jessie Robinson, Ronald Thornton, Clifford Thornton, Michael Stovall, and Kenneth Gardner; sister Alvernia Young; and a host of nephews, nieces grandchildren, great-grandchildren, relatives and friends.
    Visitation will be held Saturday, Feb. 7 starting at 8 a.m. at Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Edna with funeral services starting at 11 a.m.

Wilsie Browning

Wilsie Julie Matak Browning passed away on Feb. 5, 2015 at the age of 94. She was born March 4, 1920 in Needville to Annie Christine Gadjosik and Pete Martin Matak.  At the age of 5 years Wilsie moved with her family to LaSalle where she grew up on the farm. 
    She worked hard at home taking care of her family. She gardened, canned, cooked, loved to dance and loved her Czech heritage polkas. She is survived by her sisters, Annie Lee Mizell, Lavonne Cooper (Dean); brothers, Alvin Matak (Margie) and Pete Matak (BJ); daughters, Annie Pearl Leigh of Beaumont, Dione Janell Futral (Dan) of Montgomery and Robbie Lanell Siecko (Melvin) of Edna; sons, William Virgil Browning (Diane) of Edna, Nick Charles Browning (Virginia) of Granbury, Alvin Roy Browning (Kathie) of Edna and stepson Donald Browning (Martha) of Midlothian. Wilsie is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren. She was lovingly known to all as Nana.

Johnny Joe Garcia

    Johnny Joe “Poppy” Garcia, of Edna passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2015 at the age of 54. He was born in Ganado on July 1, 1960 to the late John R. Garcia and Josie Garcia.
    He worked at McDonalds as a maintenance man. He loved  fishing, barbequing, watching the Patriots and listening to country music. Poppy was a loving son, brother, uncle and friend who will be dearly missed.
    Poppy is survived by his mother, Josie Garcia of Edna; sister, Virginia Garcia Flores of Edna; nephews, Christopher Garcia and fiancé Lisa Luedecke of Leander and Richard Keith Flores of Edna; great-nephew, Johnathan Garcia of Inez.
    He is preceded in death by his father, John R. Garcia; grandparents, Eusebio and Mercedes Garcia, Macedonio and Maria Maciel.

Gladys Wedemeier

Surrounded by her loving family, Gladys Marie Hicks Wedemeier, 76, went to be with the Lord, on Monday, Feb. 2, 2015. She was born in Ganado on Feb. 19, 1938 to the late John and Mable Stephens Hicks.
    Gladys is survived by her daughter, Sandra Lynn Wedemeier of Victoria; sons, Randy Burttschell of Ganado, Brent (Kay) Burttschell of Ganado, and Wade Wedemeier of Victoria; two step-children, Madalyn Warner and Joey Wedemeier of Stockdale; sisters, Dorothy Baker of Edna, and Ruby Morrow of Ganado; two grandchildren, Brad (Tracy) Burttschell, and Kristi (Colin) Pittman; and four great-grandchildren, Bruce and Lydia Burttschell, Lindsay and Cameron Pittman. 
    In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her son, Ricky Burttschell and step-son, Robert Wedemeier.
    A memorial service was held Feb. 5, at 2 p.m. at St. James Lutheran Church in Ganado.

Fauceletti Ramey
    Fauceletti Hines Ramey of Austin passed away on Wednesday,  Jan. 28, 2015. She was born Nov. 29, 1960 in Edna, to Herman Hines and Minnie Robinson Hines. She was preceded in death by her father.
    She leaves to cherish her memory, her mother, Minnie Hines; sons, Brandon Ramey, Torrance Hines, and Quency Hines;  sisters, Elaine Callis and Estella Eid; brothers, Elbridge Hines, Michael Hines, Leonard Hines and Curtis Hines; and a host of other relatives and friends.
    Visitation will be held Tuesday, Feb. 3, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Cook-Butler Funeral Home and Chapel, Edna. Funeral services will be Wednesday, Feb. 4, at 11 a.m. at Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Edna with burial at Hines Cemetery.

Hilario Rangel

    Hilario G. Rangel, of Edna went to be with the Lord on Monday, Jan. 26, 2015 at the age of 55. He was born in Edna on May 1, 1959, to the late Ignacio T. Rangel, Sr. and the late Lupe Figirova Rangel.
    He worked in the oilfield for a few years before becoming a truck driver and doing that for 25 years. Hilario provided for his family and cherished the time that was shared with everyone, He enjoyed hunting, fishing, etc., and he looked for any reason to be outdoors. Hilario was a loving husband, father, Pop’s, brother and friend who will be dearly missed.
    Hilario leaves behind a loving devoted wife of 31 years, Renee Bednarz Rangel of Edna; daughter, Heather Rangel Perez and her husband Anthony of Ganado; sons, Heath Bednarz, Hondo Rangel and Houston Rangel all of Edna; sister, Frances Rangel of Edna; brothers, Isidro Rangel and Ignacio Rangel, Jr. and his wife Silvia all of Edna; grandchildren, Lucas and Harlie Bednarz, and Austen Perez.

Esther Polk

    Esther Sally Polk, 64, of Edna, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2015 at Citizens Medical Hospital in Victoria. She was born on July 29, 1950 in Edna, to the late Pauline Stovall and Roy Lee Ramey.
    She was a member of Scruggs Methodist Church. She rededicated her life to God and was an active church mother of Flame of Fire COGIC.
    She is preceded in death by her daughter, Rita Polk; and brother, Bobby Stovall.
    She is survived by her daughters, Londar Richard of Tomball and Kelli Ceaser of Edna; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren; siblings, Darlene Jefferson of Texas City, Brenda Fearance of Edna, Ruth Wilson of Edna, Theresa Stovall of Houston, Leola Stovall of Victoria, Frankie Carl of Edna, Vernon of Edna; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Audrey Adams

    Audrey Daniel Adams of Edna passed away Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2015 at the age of 102. He was born in Sophie, Okla., on May 30, 1912, to the late James Daniel Adams and Martha Aldine Adams Wagner. He attended school at Mercedes and worked at Bell Telephone Company, and Archer-Dayo Motors in the parts department as a parts man. He also worked for his brother Vernon at Adams Garage until he retired in 1972.
    He was preceded in death by his wife of 37 years, Ruth Dixon Adams; his daughter, Margaret Ann Hensley; three brothers, Vernon, Oscar, Lee and three sisters, Bertha Kilpatrick, Fay Adams and Floy Stimson.
    Survivors include one daughter, Linda (John) Wisdom of Edna; two loving granddaughters, Denise (Shane) Hawes of Edna and Michelle (Kevin) Everts of Ganado; his four loving great-grandchildren, Zachary and Cameron Hawes of Edna and Brenna and Kyleigh Anderle of Ganado.
