Johnny Joe Garcia

    Johnny Joe “Poppy” Garcia, of Edna passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2015 at the age of 54. He was born in Ganado on July 1, 1960 to the late John R. Garcia and Josie Garcia.
    He worked at McDonalds as a maintenance man. He loved  fishing, barbequing, watching the Patriots and listening to country music. Poppy was a loving son, brother, uncle and friend who will be dearly missed.
    Poppy is survived by his mother, Josie Garcia of Edna; sister, Virginia Garcia Flores of Edna; nephews, Christopher Garcia and fiancé Lisa Luedecke of Leander and Richard Keith Flores of Edna; great-nephew, Johnathan Garcia of Inez.
    He is preceded in death by his father, John R. Garcia; grandparents, Eusebio and Mercedes Garcia, Macedonio and Maria Maciel.
    Visitation will be held on Friday, Feb. 6 from 9 to 10 a.m. with a rosary to be recited at 10 a.m. in the St. Agnes Catholic Church of Edna with a funeral mass to follow at 10:30 a.m. in the St. Agnes Catholic Church of Edna. Burial will follow in the Latin American Cemetery of Edna. Rev. Michael Petering will be officiating.
    Pallbearers will be Daniel Molina, Jimmy Joe Garcia, Egino Soto, Jr., Alonzo Cruz, Joe David Lopez, Mike Ramirez, Fabian Ramirez and Ricky Nunez. Honorary pallbearers are McDonalds Staff of Edna, Danny Guevara and Jimmy Garcia.
