Howard Wayne Neal

Wayne Neal has exited his rickety old body, having lived twice as long as he expected and way longer then he deserved. He passed on Sept. 11, 2016, at 74 years old. He often wished in his later years that he had not treated his body like a tavern.     Wayne never met a man he didn’t want to Indian leg wrestle, or play Mercy with. Mainly because he was an ornery ole bastard.     He was a modest man who very seldom bragged about all of his treasures on Facebook. By the way, who the hell taught him about Facebook?     He was considered the best concrete contractor in all of Texas, and if you ever doubted him, you could ask anyone that endured the hours of “one more and we will call it a night” at Wayne’s Hurricane Bar.     He is proceeded in death by his wife Carolyn (mainly because she had enough of his shenanigans), son Christopher Wayne Neal, mother Irene, father Harold, brother Jim, and sister Candy.

Carolyn Land Neal

Carolyn Joyce Land Neal left this earth on Aug. 12, 2016. She was born Nov. 16, 1943, in Strasburg, Mo. to Donald and Della Land. She had one baby sister, Dawn.     Caroline (as her husband Wayne liked calling her just to be a pain the butt) was the glue of our family. She was greatly loved, and loved greatly. She always took care of us with untold cookie jars full of her famous chocolate chip cookies.     She was so tender hearted. A fond lover of cats, more cats, and too many darn cats. She actually mentioned in her will that we’d better take care of her cats!     She was proceeded in death by her mother Della Land, her father Donald Land, baby sister Dawn Akins, and son Christopher Neal.     She is survived by her son Eric, her many grandchildren, and even more great-grandchildren. She was survived by her husband Wayne, but he has since passed.     I know this obituary is a little late, but she didn’t want us to make a big fuss.

Our “Mama” Freddie Mascheck went to be with our Lord and Savior on Tuesday, Sept. 6, 2016, at the age of 74, surrounded by those who loved her dearly. She was born on Feb. 15, 1942, to Joseph Allen Teague and Lorene Kirby Teague in Kermit, Texas.       On March 14, 1960, Freddie married the love of her life, Travis Mascheck and shortly moved to Edna. Upon arriving in Edna she had several employment opportunies working in the county for the Ford Motor Company, the County Tax Office, Jackson Electric Coop., and also a full time partner in business with her husband Travis. It wasn’t until later in life that she was able to fulfill her calling as an activity director in doing what she loved best, “helping others”.     From an early age mama developed a love of music and oh, how she could sing! She played by ear and could pick up just about any instrument and go to town on it, but her love had to be the accordion!
