Joe M. Walleck
Joe M. Walleck of Edna passed away on Sunday, Sept. 11, 2016 at the age of 81. He was born in Ganado on Aug. 9, 1935 to Joe E. Walleck and Helen Scheel Walleck. Joe served his country by joining the United States Army from 1953 to 1955. Joe was a long time Little League Coach and was active in 4-H for many years. He retired from Houston Pipeline Company in 1993 with 37 years of service. Joe is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Shirley Husak Walleck; his sons, Lynn and his wife Karen Walleck of Rosenberg and Ronnie and his wife Elisabeth Walleck of Thrall; his grandchildren, Brandon Walleck, Brooke and her husband Cody Vyoral, Austen Walleck and Ashley Walleck, and one great-grandson, Lane Vyoral. Joe is preceded in death by his parents, and his sister Katherine Waitchies. Visitation was Tuesday, Sept. 13 at Ganado Funeral Home Chapel from 5 to 7 p.m. The funeral service will be Wednesday, Sept.14 at 10 a.m. at Ganado Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Chris Heinold officiating. Interment will immediately follow at Ganado City Cemetery. Pallbearers were Austen Walleck, Brandon Walleck, Glen Johnston, Tommy Johnston, Clinton Sheflik and Cody Vyoral. The family wishes to extend their thanks to all dad's caregivers, Dolores Tristan, Susy Madan, Faye McLain, Mary Lee Molina, Gloria Rodriguez, as well as Citizens Home Health and Hospice of South Texas for the wonderful care he received. In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorial contributions be sent to Hospice of South Texas, 605 E. Locust Ave., Victoria, TX 77901. Services were entrusted to Russell Todish of Ganado Funeral Home, 361-771-2120.
