Will Maraggia and Hannah Gabrysch were named homecoming king and queen during Industrial High School’s  homecoming festivities at halftime of the Sept. 20 football game against Louise. 

New officers for the 2013-14 Edna High School Texas Association of Future Educators has been announced. The organization will be hosting the Region III TAFE Conference this year at the University of Houston-Victoria campus. They will be doing various commmunity and school projects throughout the year. They will also be selling Cowboy T-shirts. From bottom, left, are new officers Matt Kucera, Drew Ganem and Taylor Darilek; and from the top, left, are Holton Newbern, Ellie Wright, Haley Orsak and Emily Yendrey.  

Each month Ganado ISD Board of Trustees recognizes a student from each campus. The students of the month are Ashley Allen of Ganado High School, Kyla Ledwik of Ganado Junior High School and Erik Alvarez Jr. of Ganado Elementary School.

The Edna Hazmat team investigates a wreck in the 800 block of E. York in Ganado. The team found no leakage from a tanker truck on Sept. 13.

    A wreck on Hwy. 59 one mile north of Ganado this morning landed two Ganado women in the hospital.
    Wilma Sless, 75, was delivering mail at about 9:30 a.m. when she saw debris in the road and stopped her 2012 Chevrolet pickup truck, according to information provided by Department of Public Safety Trooper Gerald Bryant.   
    An 18-wheeler swerved to miss her, but a second vehicle, a 2012 Peterbilt tractor trailer that was towing a flatbed, struck Sless’ truck.
    Bryant said Sless was transported by Jackson County Hospital District EMS to a nearby helipad where she was flown by helicopter to Memorial Hermann Texas Trauma Institute in Houston.
    A passenger in Sless’ truck, Jinnie Sillian, 81, was transported by the district EMS to Citizens Medical Center in Victoria where she was listed in stable condition, according to Shannon Spree, Citizens Medical Center spokeswoman.
