Ganado women hospitalized in wreck

A wreck on Hwy. 59 one mile north of Ganado this morning landed two Ganado women in the hospital.
Wilma Sless, 75, was delivering mail at about 9:30 a.m. when she saw debris in the road and stopped her 2012 Chevrolet pickup truck, according to information provided by Department of Public Safety Trooper Gerald Bryant.
An 18-wheeler swerved to miss her, but a second vehicle, a 2012 Peterbilt tractor trailer that was towing a flatbed, struck Sless’ truck.
Bryant said Sless was transported by Jackson County Hospital District EMS to a nearby helipad where she was flown by helicopter to Memorial Hermann Texas Trauma Institute in Houston.
A passenger in Sless’ truck, Jinnie Sillian, 81, was transported by the district EMS to Citizens Medical Center in Victoria where she was listed in stable condition, according to Shannon Spree, Citizens Medical Center spokeswoman.
Sless was listed in critical condition at Memorial Hermann, according to hospital spokesperson.
The driver of the truck, Glen Dubose, 54, of Deyton, was not injured.
Bryant said no citations have been issued and Trooper Aaron Frazier is investigating the accident.
