Public invited to community input sessions

The Edna Independent School District (ISD) Board of Trustees has employed Texas Association of School Boards (TASB) Executive Search Services to assist with the search for a new superintendent. The Board has requested that school personnel and the public be involved in developing qualifications and characteristics of the person the Board should seek to become the new superintendent.

Edna addresses drainage issues

 

Drainage problems in the City of Edna may someday be a thing of the past if Edna City Council is able to implement all the suggestions in a master drainage plan by KSA Engineers.
The council hired the engineering firm in March to evaluate the city’s drainage. KSA met with city employees, Donnie Slatter with the Jackson County Countywide Drainage District, and Scott Hartl with TxDOT.

Budget balances at Industrial ISD

 

Industrial ISD Superintendent Tony Williams and Business Manager Jessica Hunt said they were pleased with the proposed 2013-14 budget. The overall total would be $10,566,867 and the tax rate would be set at $1.2610 if the budget is passed without changes.

GISD drops tax rate

 

Ganado ISD Board of Trustees set the total district 2013-14 tax rate to $1.195 at the Aug. 15 board of trustees regular meeting, which is lower than what was anticipated during the tax ratification election.
Trustees approved setting the interest and sinking fund tax rate at .0295, bringing the overall total to $1.195.   
“It will be the lowest since I’ve been keeping record of the tax rate,” Ganado ISD Superintendent Jeff Black said. “$1.20 is the lowest I’ve seen on record.”

EISD approves executive search agreement

 

To help find a new superintendent, the Edna Independent School District Board of Trustees recently approved an executive search services agreement with the Texas Association of School Boards. 
TASB will assist the EISD Board of Trustees by advertising, identifying, attracting and attaining superintendent candidates, EISD Board of Trustees President Patrick Brzozowski said. 
He said the cost for providing this complete service is $7,200.
“We have developed a timeline with TASB and will follow that as closely as possible,” Brzozowski said.
