Cobra ladies start anew

The Industrial Cobra girls basketball team played the Cuero Gobblers on Nov. 11 at home and lost, 30-52.
Head Coach Valerie Smith said her style of basketball is different than what the girls are used to. “It’s very fast and aggressive, and it’s going to take some time to adapt,” she said. “But there is not another group of girls that I would rather spend this season learning and growing with. When we come together it’s going to be a lot of fun to watch!”
Kelsey Van Pelt scored 13 points, Jessica Martin scored 12, while Jade Trowbridge and Sarah Kusak scored two points each.
The junior varsity team lost to Cuero with a score of 23-30, and the freshman team won with a final score of 63-18.
“We’ve got a very talented group of young ladies with a whole season ahead of us,” Smith added.

Cobras look to the future

by Michelle and Jason
Tumlinson
The Industrial Cobras ended their season with a loss to the Hitchcock Bulldogs with a score of 48 -7.
Head Coach Jeff Rogers said everyone has been very disappointed in the way the Cobra season turned out. “I take full responsibility for that. Our football team has grown so much this season, and our record does not reflect how much we’ve grown,” he said. “This group of young men will continue to work hard and improve this whole offseason.”
The Cobras had a difficult first half with the Bulldogs jumping out to a very quick lead scoring three touchdowns in the first quarter. Industrial’s only score of the night came on a 20-yard touchdown run by #25 Trevor Ressman. The first half came to a close with a score of Bulldogs 36 Cobras 7.

Indians take win, but not enough for a playoff spot

by Ashlyn Sterling
The Indians finished their season in a game against the Schulenburg Shorthorns with a 23-20 win. This didn't lead them to a playoff game in their district.
Coach Bird said the team was owed all the credit. "We didn't play without mistakes," said Bird, "But we're proud of them for going out and making it happen tonight despite the adversity. They never lost faith, and that's what a good team does."
In the first few plays of the game it seemed like the Indians were going to be pushing for the win until an interception broke their streak of great plays. The Indian defense held the Shorthorns back for quite some time, but it wasn't enough. Eventually a Shorthorn slipped past the Indians and into the end zone for the first touchdown of the game with a good field goal. The score was 7-0 in Schulenburg's favor.
