Cobra ladies start anew
The Industrial Cobra girls basketball team played the Cuero Gobblers on Nov. 11 at home and lost, 30-52.
Head Coach Valerie Smith said her style of basketball is different than what the girls are used to. “It’s very fast and aggressive, and it’s going to take some time to adapt,” she said. “But there is not another group of girls that I would rather spend this season learning and growing with. When we come together it’s going to be a lot of fun to watch!”
Kelsey Van Pelt scored 13 points, Jessica Martin scored 12, while Jade Trowbridge and Sarah Kusak scored two points each.
The junior varsity team lost to Cuero with a score of 23-30, and the freshman team won with a final score of 63-18.
“We’ve got a very talented group of young ladies with a whole season ahead of us,” Smith added.
The junior varsity and varsity Cobras will have played Van Vleck on Tuesday, Nov. 18, while the freshman team will play Calhoun, all at home. The varsity team will play against Flatonia at home on Friday, Nov. 21.
