Cobras prepare for Edna

The Industrial Cobra baseball team clinched a playoff spot on April 14 in a game against Rice Consolidated with a final score of 10-0. Coach Zach Marlow said the team is very focused and has come to the yard everyday mentally prepared.
“All season long we have told ourselves to take it one game at a time and don’t plan on changing that mentality,” he said.
Marlow said Garrett Sparkman had another great performance on the mound. He allowed only three hits and had nine strikeouts.
“We swing the bats well as a team,” Marlow said. “Kenneth Rowlett and Brock Werckle both had two outs and two runs batted in that helped the Cobras pull away in the middle innings.”
He added that Sparkman had a 2-3 night at the plate while Brandon Alexander and Wesley Sliva both were 1-2 at the plate as well.
The Cobras played the Hallettsville Brahmas on April 21 and lost 1-0. They will play Edna, there, on Friday, April 24.

Cobras sitting in second

Cobra baseball coach Zachary Marlow is proud of his team currently sitting in 2nd place. The team’s win against Edna on April 7, 8-1, was a good test for the Cobras, according to Marlow.
“Garrett Sparkman once again showed his poise on the mound and throws six innings and gave up one earned run,” he said. “When you have a pitcher that competes like Sparkman you feel you always have a chance to be competitive and win the game.”
The Edna Cowboys jumped out early in the first inning with a few hits and put one run up on the board, but the Industrial Cobras came in and answered right back, scoring one in the bottom half to tie the game up. The Cobras then scratched a few in the next few innings, according to Marlow, and pulled away late.
