Cobras sitting in second

Cobra baseball coach Zachary Marlow is proud of his team currently sitting in 2nd place. The team’s win against Edna on April 7, 8-1, was a good test for the Cobras, according to Marlow.
“Garrett Sparkman once again showed his poise on the mound and throws six innings and gave up one earned run,” he said. “When you have a pitcher that competes like Sparkman you feel you always have a chance to be competitive and win the game.”
The Edna Cowboys jumped out early in the first inning with a few hits and put one run up on the board, but the Industrial Cobras came in and answered right back, scoring one in the bottom half to tie the game up. The Cobras then scratched a few in the next few innings, according to Marlow, and pulled away late.
“Dylan Kruppa and Wesley Silva came up big at the plate that night,” Marlow added. “Kruppa scored the first run of the game to tie it back up and found ways to get on base all night. Sliva hit the ball hard all night and hit a great sack fly to right field in the fourth inning to bring a run home.”
Kruppa came in during the 7th inning to finish the game.
Cobra Brock Werckle said the team has been playing well as a unit with good chemistry on and off the field, which helps their games. “Our defense is going to look to focus improving our situational play,” he said. “We’re still improving every day and working on our hitting, while the pitchers are working hard to keep their arms up.”
The Cobras are now 4-1 in district and sitting in second place. The second round of district starts on Friday, April 10, where they will play Tidehaven at home at 7:00pm.
