Maidens in third place

The Ganado Maidens have been stepping up their softball game. After a 10-8 win against the Flatonia Lady Dogs on April 2, the Maidens had a 3-0 win against #1 ranked Shiner Comanches on April 7, allowing them to sit at third place within the district.
“The girls have taken some big leaps in the right direction,” said softball Coach Malina Andel. “We’re trying to fix the little things, all while working on our mental approach going into every game.”
Leading hitters during the Shiner game were Alexis Mojica, Cheyenne Galindo and Taylor Mirelez with one hit each, while Galindo added a run batted in.                 Galindo also pitched the game, and had five hits and three strikeouts.
Kyla Ledwik stole a base and had a walk, while Hannah Janssen and Lizzie Callis also had a walk.
“There are three more games before district is over,” Andel said. “Right now we’re focusing on one game at a time.”
The Ganado Maidens will play the Louise Hornets on Tuesday, April 21, at home, and they will also play the Weimar Wildcats on Friday, April 24, there.
