Ronald Clinkscales

 devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and friend went to be with our Heavenly Father on May 22, 2016. Ronald was born in Hillsboro, Texas as one of a set of fraternal twins, to D.O. (Dude) and Tommie Clinkscales, on Jan. 24, 1934. He was reared in the community of Midway where his family owned and operated a small grocery store and service station. Ronald graduated from Hillsboro High School in 1948 and went on to play baseball in college.       Ronald worked for Shell Oil Company until he opened and operated Palmetto Realty Company in 1963. He loved the real estate business and touched many lives during his 53 years in the business. He enjoyed the real estate business so much that he would often comment that “since he started Palmetto Realty he hasn’t worked a day in his life”.  Ron never met a stranger and cared deeply for people. He married Jan Mozisek Clinkscales on March 28, 1980. Ron and Jan celebrated their 36th wedding anniversary this year.

Nina Marjorie Wilson

Nina Marjorie Wilson, 93, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Saturday May 21, 2016. Nina was born Sept. 12, 1922 in Goodwell, Okla. to the Nathaniel Merritt and Beulah Virginia White Wilson.       In her early years Nina was a certified aircraft sheet metal worker and later became a loving home maker, baby sitter, Avon lady, a loving wife and mother.     Nina is survived by her daughters; Zelda Kay (James) Hurt, Brenda Jo (Joe) Maresh, Nancy Carol ( Gary) Banning, and a son, Steven Eugene (Juanita )Wilson.  She is also survived by nine grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, seven great-great grandchildren and one great-great-great grandchild.     Nina is preceded in death by her parents, sisters, Thelma Vanderhoofven and Zelda P. Bintliff; brothers, Howard W. Singleton and Leon Singleton; and a great-grandson Cody Hahn.     Visitation will be Monday, May 23, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the Slavik~Edna Funeral Home Chapel. Services will be Tuesday May 24, at 10 a.m.

Fannie Kneblick

Fannie Lee Kneblick, of Edna, passed away Wednesday, May 18, 2016 at the age of 93. She was born Feb. 25, 1923, in Lavaca County, to the late Tom Chivers and Martha E. Einkauf Chivers.     Fannie was a homemaker, she loved the outdoors and taking care of her animals, hunting, fishing. She also spent time sewing, crocheting, quilting and with great talent, and most of all she loved her Phillip, family and her Peanut.     She is survived by her loving family nieces and nephews, Eunice Brewer (Fred), Doris Warncke (Fritz), Johnny Streetman (Debbie), James Utsey (Shirley), John Streetman (Ruth), Steve Streetman (Annie), Rhonda Kresta (Rick), Lanelle Olsovsky (James), Velma Kiefer (Jeff), and Shirley Odela (Perry); adopted family, A.J. and Judy Carter, Jim Carter (Christine), Lee Ann Bowen (Craig), Amy Shedd (Clayton); eight great-grandchildren, 28 great nieces and nephews; 20 great-great-nieces andnephews; and sister, Agnes Kneblick.

Rose Marie Koop

    Rose Marie Koop, 87, of Beaumont, died Monday, May 16, 2016, at Christus Hospital – St. Elizabeth, Beaumont. She was born on June 25, 1928, in Maxwell, Texas, to Hettie Louise Hoffman Wiede and William Henry Wiede.     Rose worked as a bank teller for many years in Edna.     She married her childhood sweetheart, Bill, in 1946, in Koop Settlement, Edna. They resided in Edna until their retirement to Beaumont in 1999.     Rose’s passion in life was serving her Lord through music, playing the organ in her church from age 10 until this past Sunday’s church service at Collier Park Assisted Living in Beaumont.

Julie Ann Peters

    Julia Ann Peters, 96 of Ganado passed away on Thursday, May 12, 2016. She was born on Oct. 5, 1920 in Hochheim to Clem and Agnes Jurena Vinklarek.     She is survived by her daughters; Marie (Frank) Matlock and Susan (Michael) Gabrysch; five grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; and her brother Cyril Vinklarek.     She is preceded in death by her parents; husband Clem Peters; son Tommy, and her six brothers and two sisters.     Visitation was Sunday, May 15. The funeral service was held on Monday, May 16 at Assumption Catholic Church and interment followed at Assumption Catholic Cemetery with Rev. Michael Lyons officiating.     Services have been entrusted to Russell Todish of Ganado Funeral Home, 361-771-2120.

Leslie Callis

Mr. Leslie Callis, a resident of Edna, passed away on Friday, May 6, 2016.     Funeral services were held Thursday, May 12 at Shiloh Bapt. Church in Edna, with visitation from 10 to 11 a.m. followed by the funeral at 11 a.m. Burial was at Kerr Cemetery.     Tracy's M.J. Focean Psencik

    Focean LaRue Psencik, 66 formerly of Edna, passed away on Wednesday, May 11, 2016.  He was born on Oct. 31, 1949 in Victoria, to Louis and Elnora Hattenbach Psencik.     He is preceeded in death by his parents.     He is survived by his brother Whyman and wife Carolyn Psencik; as well as his nephew Brian Psencik and wife Tracy, and their daughters, Abigail and Sydney, and his niece, Jori Psencik and friend Mark Cohen.     Visitation was Saturday, May 14, from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at Slavik Funeral Home Chapel in Edna,  followed by a graveside service and interment at Bishoff Cemetery in Jackson County at 11 a.m. with Rev. Andrew Schroer of Redeemer Lutheran Church officiating.     Services have been entrusted to Russell Todish with Slavik Funeral Home, Edna, 361-782-2152.

Vivian Rawlins

    Vivian Walker Rawlins, a long time resident of Goliad, was reunited with the love of her life, Guy Robert Rawlins, Jr. on Monday, May 9, 2016. They had been apart just a few days shy of 25 years and after living so many years as a widow, Vivian was peacefully called home.     Born in Edna to Ivy Vivian Yearwood and Avery Duke Walker, Vivian loved her family and her faith. A cheerleader and graduate of Edna High School, she loved to reminisce about her childhood, climbing trees and fences and watching the ice being delivered in large blocks. She loved to tells stories about her large family – the Yearwoods and the Walkers – and looked forward to the annual family reunions and summer trips to Camp Bean to float down the Guadalupe River.     She loved to remember her first date with Guy which always made her remember hearing about her daddy seeing her momma for the very first time at a country dance.

Regina Brooks

Regina Laverne Brooks, of Edna, passed away Thursday, May 5, 2016 at the age of 54. She was born in Ganado, on Sept. 20, 1961, to the late LV Brooks and Ruth Delores Barnes Brooks.     Regina is survived by her brothers, Jonathan W. Brooks, Gregory L. Brooks of Utopia, and Leonard V. Brooks of Wylie. She is also survived by many aunts, uncles and nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.     Regina graduated from Edna High School and attended Wharton County Junior College.  She  was a member of Gideon Baptist Church.     In addition to her parents, Regina is preceded in death by her maternal and paternal grandparents and several aunts, uncles and cousins.     Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, May 14 in the Oaklawn Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Washington Cemetery with Rev. Walter Gant, Jr. officiating.
