I live in Texas but I’m still a Royals fan

Even though I have lived in Texas for more than two and a half years I am still a Kansas girl at heart so I still cheer for the same teams as I did when I lived in Kansas.
Since the University of Kansas Jayhawks basketball team is not playing yet, I have had my eyes glued to the World Series. I am not a baseball fan, but as many of you may know the Kansas City Royals is a Kansas team and this is the first time the Royals has made the World Series since 1985. For those of you who do not know sports, the Royals won the World Series in 1985. I was six years old during that time and I remember this was a pretty big deal.
The only thing I recall from that moment was people wearing Royals attire, talking about the World Series and sundaes served in small plastic Kansas City Royals helmets at Dairy Queen. Now that I am older and wiser, I understand how extremely difficult it is to make the World Series, the Super Bowl or a national championship game.
I feel like I was deprived from celebrating this magical moment and cheering on a local team that has this golden opportunity to defeat the odds, triumphantly defeat the other team and bask in the glory.
I understand the thrill of your team winning a championship because I went to San Antonio in 2008 to watch the Jayhawks defeat the Memphis Grizzlies in the NCAA national championship game. After watching all the games during March Madness, watching the Jayhawks work their way up to the national championship made it even more meaningful.
That was a wonderful year for KU fans because the football team won the Orange Bowl as well. There was a sudden need for Kansas Jayhawk paraphernalia. Everyone had to wear KU clothes and decorate their cars with KU bumper stickers, flags and etc. to show their team spirit.
I hope the Royals can take down the San Francisco Giants so I can relive that shining moment.
