Behavior may reflect deeper issues

By now you have already seen the video clip of Miley Cyrus twerking on the MTV Video Music Awards. According to the Oxford Dictionary Online, to twerk is to dance to popular music in a sexually provocative manner involving thrusting hip movements and a low, squatting stance.
Hannah Montana fans’ mouths dropped as soon as Cyrus was performing the gritty, dirty dance moves on the television set. I can’t think what was worse – her nasty tongue sharply hanging out, her wild, spikey hairdo or her skinny, next to nothing body gyrating in a sexual manner in front of millions of viewers.
Dancing teddy bears and spirals of different colors in the background were used to create illusions, the kind I imagine you might see while high on drugs. I guess she was trying to be artsy, but I thought it looked like something from a child’s nightmare.
I know she is trying to erase her Hannah Montana image and wanting to entertain a more adult audience. It seems like the more she tries, the more she looks childish. Her little escapade on the MTV Music Awards was disastrous and made her look extremely foolish. I know her dad Billy Ray Cyrus defended her and I think he was just trying to show he was a good parent by standing by his daughter’s side. I think somewhere in the back of his mind he was just as disgusted as the majority of us were.
I honestly think there is something wrong with Miley Cyrus. Somewhere deep inside her there is a lost, confused little girl who is just finding ways to rebel against her parents and society. I think she is tired of living up to other people’s standards and feels like the only way for her to be herself is to disgust and offend people.
Other artists such as Madonna and Lady Gaga also like to shock people. Lately, Madonna can’t help but express her political and religious views in her performances. Lady Gaga tries to be artsy and original in her performances. I can respect all of that, but Cyrus wasn’t doing either. She was just being raunchy, offensive and vulgar. There was very little substance or meaning in her performance on the VMAs.
I think Miley Cyrus’ behavior was enough to give anyone a nightmare. I can’t understand why anyone would want to make themselves look ugly the way she has. I wouldn’t blame her ex-fiancé Liam Hemsworth for wanting out of the relationship. Just seeing the sight of her in the morning would disgust me and disturbing images of her twerking and nasty tongue sticking out would haunt me.
I feel sorry for her and I hope she gets some help soon. Cyrus really needs to see a psychiatrist or therapist because she has a lot of issues.
