Planning ahead for retirement

Long-time county commissioner and employee Larry Deyton is planning for his retirement. The four-term commissioner of Pct. 4 will not seek re-election for another term.
Deyton has been working for Jackson County Pct. 4 since he was 19-years old.
“I started working for Commissioner Pepper Martin right out of high school,” he said. “Even back then I would come and work at the precinct barn for free on Saturdays and Sundays to keep the barn clean.”
