Edna ISD superintendent to resign

Edna Independent School District Superintendent Bob Wells will be leaving his job next year. Edna ISD Board of Trustees accepted his resignation during a special meeting on June 24. According to Wells, his resignation will go into effect June 30, 2014.
“We are negotiating about me leaving before then,” he said.
The board voted 6-0 to accept his resignation after an hour long executive session. During the executive session, the board and the district school’s attorney discussed the employment and a possible resignation agreement with the superintendent. Wells said they did so in case he were to leave earlier than June 30, 2014.
On June 24, marked the 14th anniversary as superintendent at Edna ISD, according to a press release that was sent on June 25.  Details regarding Wells last day of duty and tasks to be accomplished prior to that time are still being negotiated. Edna ISD Board President Patrick Brzozowski has been authorized to sign a seperation agreement with Wells outlining the detail.
Also stated in the press release, for school systems to be successful, seven members of the Edna ISD Board of Trustees and the superintendent must share a common vision for the district and share a common philosophy of how to achieve that vision, which is no longer true in Edna. That is the reason the board requested Wells departure and why Wells agreed to do so. The separation is civil and professional.
Wells said he was sad when he heard the board asked him to leave, but he thought it wasn’t appropriate for him to stay. At 63, he said he wasn’t sure what he will do after his last day. Wells said he will take a week off after his last day as superintendent before venturing out to do something else.
“I thought I would be here until I am 65, but that’s not going to happen,” he said.
