IHS students make State for One Act Play

It takes more than just talent to reach state in the University Interscholastic League One-Act Play contest, according to the Industrial High School cast of the play Mariner.
It also takes good team work and getting along with other cast members, avoiding backstage drama.
“We have such a strong bond with each other that we just pick each other up and help each other along the way,” Ray Henry, actor and crew member said.
All their hardwork paid off in the end when they advanced to state from regionals in the contest, which is the first time for Industrial High since 2004. The school has made it to the one-act play state contest eight times since 1952, Mike Doggett, IHS theatre arts teacher, said. It is the third state appearance for the drama group in his teaching career at IHS. Doggett is in the middle of his 15th year at IHS.
The state contest took place at the McCullough Theatre on May 21 at the University of Texas in Austin.
It took a large cast and crew to put the play all together.
Out of more than 20 actors in the play, only 15 of them are allowed to participate during the state contest. The following are the 15 actors/actresses who will be participating at state: Scott Tillery, Matthew Bellanger, Jace Pfuhl, Hunter Endres, Dillon Blakeman, Brenan Prukop, Josh Gillis, Justin Koop, Colleen Fellers, Kyla Kisiah, Ayla Krenek, Ashley Pattillo, Kalli Ellis, Breanna Horelka and Sydney Pattillo.
