Rusty Williamson
Rusty Williamson went to grace Heaven (we think) with his presence on Monday, Sept. 19, 2016 after 61 years of tormenting his loved ones here on Earth with his corny sense of humor and incomparable and gaseous charm. Born Ruxton O. Williamson, Jr. in Alice on Friday, March 11, 1955, Rusty was the best-looking and most humble of the Williamson children. He is preceded by his equally handsome father, Ruxton, Sr. and survived by his mother, Little Sargent (Margie), and sister Debbie Cleveland (Wayne) of Ganado, and sister Lois Schiurring (Walde) of Bay City. Rusty leaves behind an attractive – yet unavailable – wife, Connie of Wharton, safely behind a cattle guard, electric wire, and barbed-wire fence; two successful children from his first attempt, Fighting Texas Aggie Courtney Hudgins (Neil) of Hungerford, and Ruxton, III of a band of gypsy Texas Longhorn traveling the country. He also leaves behind two children from his victory lap, Brandi Corder (Isaac) of East Bernard and Ashley Williams of San Antonio. He also was much loved as Popo Chubs by grandchildren Audrey, Madiyn, Kate, Brynn and Brady (Gus). Rusty spent his best days drinking WT101, thinking up pranks to pull on the Cadiz Cookers and laughing about the number of people he pissed off in 35 years at the FSA by trying to make it a better place through family and camaraderie. Those who knew him best know that he was usually right, even if you didn't want to hear it. He knew how to draw a crowd and how to clear a room. He always put family first and put his final years into making sure everyone knew how much they were loved. Family and friends commiserated (or celebrated) his life in passing at a visitation on Thursday, Sept. 22, from 5-7 p.m. at the Ganado Funeral Home, and a graveside service on Friday, Sept. 23, at 10 a.m., at the Red Bluff Cemetery on CR 428 near Lolita. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the TASCOE scholarship fund by contacting LaCresha Dale at 903-885-4433. Services are under the direction of Ganado Funeral Home, 361-771-2120.
