Ronald Clinkscales

devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and friend went to be with our Heavenly Father on May 22, 2016. Ronald was born in Hillsboro, Texas as one of a set of fraternal twins, to D.O. (Dude) and Tommie Clinkscales, on Jan. 24, 1934. He was reared in the community of Midway where his family owned and operated a small grocery store and service station. Ronald graduated from Hillsboro High School in 1948 and went on to play baseball in college.       Ronald worked for Shell Oil Company until he opened and operated Palmetto Realty Company in 1963. He loved the real estate business and touched many lives during his 53 years in the business. He enjoyed the real estate business so much that he would often comment that “since he started Palmetto Realty he hasn’t worked a day in his life”.  Ron never met a stranger and cared deeply for people. He married Jan Mozisek Clinkscales on March 28, 1980. Ron and Jan celebrated their 36th wedding anniversary this year.       He was a long time member of the First Baptist Church in Edna, actively serving in many capacities. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, past member of the Edna Lions Club, Edna Rotary Club and served on the Bluebonnet Youth Ranch board.  He currently served as a director on the boards of both Jackson County Federal Credit Union and the United Way. His favorite pasttimes included hunting, golfing and traveling to Colorado. He loved the San Juan Mountains and spent many hours in Silverton, Colo. with his family. The children always joked that the family spent so much time in Silverton they went to selling rocks on the curb like the “locals”. He loved to cook breakfast for the family and enjoyed watching the grandchildren in their activities. Loyal and dedicated to his family and friends, he treasured the time they spent together. Ron will be remembered by his strong faith, his simple life style and his generosity towards others. His kind spirit, sense of humor, and friendship will not be forgotten.     Ronald is survived by his wife Jan Clinkscales; sons, Randy Clinkscales and wife Barbara, Dusty Clinkscales, and Shawn Clinkscales; daughters,  Rhonda Clinkscales Klima and husband Dennis, Candy Clinkscales, and Shay Lea Clinkscales Strain and husband Kevin; 11 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; brother Doug Clinkscales and wife Shirley; brothers-in-law, Edwin White, Otto Mozisek and wife Linda, Tommy Mozisek and wife Alannah, Dennis Mozisek and wife Ann; sisters-in-law Cathy Brzozowski and husband Andy, Peggy Frederick and husband Ricky; as well as numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends.       He was preceded in death by his parents; and twin sister Reta.     The family wishes to express their heartfelt thanks to the numerous friends and family whom have been prayerful and caring throughout the last several months.       In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the building fund at First Baptist Church, Edna.       Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 24 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Oaklawn Funeral Home.
