George Doelitsch

George Doelitsch, 89 of Rockdale, passed away Sunday, April 17, 2016 in Giddings. 

George was born January 29, 1927 in Austin to Edgar and Marie (Schwing) Doelitsch. He married Nell Rose Seals on April 3, 1948 in Austin where they lived before moving to Rockdale 58 years ago. George worked for ALCOA for 36 years before retiring in 1988. He worked in the Anode Department and was the head tractor operator in the Carbon Department. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Rockdale. George enjoyed doing yard work, taking his wife Nell shopping and being with his family.

He is preceded in death by his grandson, Dusty Doelitsch; brother, Edgar Doelitsch; and sisters, Helen Alvarez, Josie Harrison, and Eleanor Hodge.

George is survived by his wife of 68 years, Nell Rose Doelitsch of Rockdale; sons Rick Doelitsch and wife Bettie of Rockdale, David Doelitsch and wife Rola of Brenham, and Jimmy Doelitsch and wife Vickie of Edna; grandchildren, Aaron Doelitsch and wife Jennifer of Spring, Nathan Doelitsch and wife Marci of Milano, Georgann Smith and husband Jamie of Burton, Bobby Doelitsch and wife Jessica of Edna, David Doelitsch Jr. and wife Sarah of Brenham, Amy Doelitsch of Edna, and Christy Doelitsch White of Rockdale; 17 Great Grandchildren; nephew, Carey Seals; nieces, Helen Hobbs, Frances Lamb, Peggy Sullivan, and Frankie Stuksa; and sister-in-law, Helen Seals of Cedar Park.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., Thursday, April 21 at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home with Pastor Greg Spears officiating and burial following at I.O.O.F. Cemetery. Visitation will be held the same day as the service at the funeral home from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
