Come for crawfish and fun

To keep the crawfish season going, individuals can fulfill their cravings for those tasty crustaceans at the Ganado Volunteer Fire Department’s 6th Annual Crawfish Festival on Saturday, April 27 at the KJT Hall in Ganado.
One can indulge themselves with a steamy pile of crawfish, sausage, corn and potatoes for the pre-sale ticket price of $25 or $30 at the door. Serving time will be from 2 to 6 p.m. Each ticket is good for one adult and a child under the age of 12.
There will be a dance from 7 p.m. to midnight with a live performance by Big Red and the Zydeco Playmakers, a musical group who plays southern soul/blues, zydeco and reggae music.
Mandy Dennis is one of the individuals who coordinated the Little Mr. and Miss Mud Bug pageant, which took place on April 21.
A parade is scheduled on Saturday, April 27 and will start at 10 a.m. To enter a float in the parade, individuals can pick up parade entry forms at the city hall in Ganado and Edna. It is free to have a float in the parade.
Dennis said it is one of the bigger events in Ganado.
“We have sold a lot of tickets so far,” she said. “Everyone is ready for it.”
