Candidates for local and state offices gathered with their potential constituents on Feb. 22 at Lakeway Church in Edna in a Values Forum, discussing their platforms, asking for votes, and relaying for the faithful exactly how faith fit into their plans for their respective offices.
The hopefuls in the three-way race for Jackson County Precinct One Commissioner were in attendance, as well as both candidates vying for the Tax Assessor-Collector position. Greg Deeb and Raul “Roy” Barrera, both looking to overtake the Congressional position currently held by Blake Farenthold, spoke as well.
The forum differed from forums past, because it focused on faith. It brought candidates and constituents together to see if their core values lined up enough for a vote.
About 65 people showed up to the event, which allowed candidates to speak at a podium and then talk face to face with Jackson County residents.
