Friday is filing deadline

Friday, Feb. 19 is the deadline to file for local elections

   Filing ends Friday, Feb. 19 for key elected positions at cities, school districts and the hospital district. The election will be Saturday, May 7. 
   The following filings were current as of press time Monday.
   At the City of Edna, District 3, 4 and 5 council positions are up for re-election. Those positions are held by Maxine Price, Jean Anne Sorensen, and Johnny Vasquez and are for two terms. Price and Vasquez have both sign for their seats, but Sorensen has decided to not seek another term. Lance Smiga has filed for that District 4 position.
   At the City of Ganado, the position of mayor, currently held by Clinton Tegeler, and two at-large council positions currently held by Mike Konarik and Councilman Ventura Gobellan Jr. are all up for re-election. All positions are staggered two-year terms. Tegeler has filed for his position as mayor.
   There are three positions up for election at the City of LaWard, including mayor and two alderman. Currently Richard Koch, Mike Williams and Mary Gutierres, respectively, are serving in those positions.
   Edna ISD board of trustees for District 3 and District 6 will be on the ballot. Patrick Brzozowski and John Morrow respectively currently hold those seats. These are two-year terms. William Alex and Leslie Kallus have filed for Position 6 
   At Ganado ISD, board of trustees Position 1 held by Donnie Tegeler and Position 2 held by Pierce Thedford are up for re-election. All positions are for two years. Tegeler and Thedford have filed for their seats.
   At Industrial ISD, Delano Kinsfather and Brandon Karl, who held 3-year terms on the school board, are also up for re-election. Kinsfather and Clay Justin Kolle have filed for the positions.
   Four positions on the Jackson County Hospital District board of directors are up for re-election. Filings include Pct. 1, Pos. 2, Elida Benavides (I), and Jimmy Kaelin; Pct. 2, Pos. 2, Janet Chanek (I), and Jose Rodriguez; Pct. 3, Pos. 2, Frank Condron and Tommy Srp; Pct. 4, Pos. 2, Jerry Adelman (I), Willard Ulbricht, and Barbara Durocher. 
   Anyone interested in filing for any of these positions should contact the main office of each entity.
