Postal service changes mind on Francitas closing

The Francitas Post Office won't close permanently after all, thanks to the US Postal Service granting an appeal to keep it open.
Francitas’ Carolina Jalufka made the appeal after it was announced the post office would be shut down. The Postal Service changed its mind on the final determination deciding to keep the Francitas office open and to hire new employees.
The Post Office is temporarily closed until employees can be hired. A press release sent out on April 11 stated that the USPS is hiring for positions in Texas. Currently, the Postal Service is actively seeking to fill part-time positions at the Francitas Post Office. Work hours for the Francitas position are Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. Starting pay is $11.76 per hour. The job will be posted from April 15 until April 26. “At the moment, the Post Office is under an “emergency suspension” due to lack of personnel,” she said. “This is why they are looking for someone to hire, because they are going to try to keep it open. They are placing cluster boxes at the Baptist Church in Francitas in the meantime.”
