Louis Jim Steffek of Edna passed away Saturday, April 6, 2013 at the age of 96. He was born March 31, 1917 in Hallettsville to the late Joe and Annie Bartos Steffek.
Louis served in the United States Army. He was a farmer and a rancher as well as a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather and he will be missed dearly.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Beatrice Jurena Steffek; daughter, Bessie Grahmann and her husband, Andrew of Stafford; sons, Leonard Steffek and his wife Helen, of Edna and Albert Steffek of Edna; grandchildren, Larson Steffek, Lance Steffek, Scott Grahmann, Jennifer Steffek and Shane Steffek; great-grandchildren, Emma, Lachlan, Langston, Lennox and Annora.
Louis is preceded in death by his parents, Anna and Joe Steffek, sisters Mary Kallus and Ann Schiller; brothers Charlie Steffek, Joe F. Steffek and Alphonse Steffek; and by his daughter-in-law, Carolyn Steffek.
Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, April 9 with Rosary at 7 p.m. at Oaklawn Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass will be Wednesday, April 10 at 10 a.m. at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Edna. Rev. Michael Petering will be officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens in Edna.
Pallbearers will be Alvin Steffek, James Steffek, Gene Kallus, Allen Steffek, Maurice Jurena and Jerry Jurena.
Arrangements are under the direction of Oaklawn Funeral Home in Edna 361-782-2221.
