Maiden volleys and goals

The Ganado Maidens played Schulenburg in their first district game on Sept. 8 and lost in three, 25-20, 25-17 and 25-20. They then played Industrial on Sept. 11 and lost in three, 25-4, 25-13 and 25-11.
Head Coach Bryan Branch said the team is working on one point at a time and trying to be more aggressive. “We’re just trying to do what we can control, get better at serve/receive and get to where we attack the ball more. When we do that we can work more on defense,” he said. “Scheme things we’re doing wrong, but we’re just trying to get more assertive in our decision making and execute fundamental skills better.”
Setter and sophomore Alexis Mojica said the main thing the team needs to work on is transitioning. “We move too slow when we transition and that can help us get our passes to the setter easier. Once we move our feet we can make a better pass and then make that hit,” she said. “Seeing the hitter and where her feet are going will help us set our feet and make that pass.”
The Maidens will have played Flatonia on Sept. 15 and will play Goliad on Sept.18.
