Cobras suffer a loss

Friday night the Industrial Cobras fell to the Shiner Comanches and suffered a hard first loss, 49-0. Athletic Director and Head Coach Kensey Allen said the team made a lot of mistakes, and were in the sort of position where if one guy makes a mistake then everything else backfires.
“On Saturday morning we spoke to the team and learned it was the first Friday night game for 15 guys that . We have a lot of seniors and some who are inexperienced,” he said. “We want to make them realize we’re still going in the right direction and had some flashes of doing good things. It’s just making sure we’re more consistent. We’re not going to change a lot.”
During the first half of play the Cobras offense fought for some tough yards but were unable to convert on fourth downs. Junior #28 Avery Milner gave Industrial fans hope as he recovered a punt dropped by Shiner placed in the Cobra's midfield. The Cobra offense pushed forward a few yards before having to punt. The first half came to a close, Shiner 28 Industrial 0.
The Cobras kicked off to begin the second half of play. The Cobra defense shut down the Comanche drive with a show-stopping hit from #84 Brennan Prukop forcing a turnover. Senior and Captain #29 Jay Sandoval sparked fire within his team and the fans as he plowed over several Comanche defenders. After a few more hard fought yards the Cobras were forced to punt.
The Comanches scored three touchdowns in the third and were left scoreless in the fourth to end the game Shiner Comanches 49 Industrial Cobras 0.
Sandoval said he thinks the team needs to condition better and be in better shape. “I’m not sure what Weimar has, but I think we just need to change some things up front,” he said. “It’s been pretty positive and come district we’ll be ready, we’re going to bring the winning mentality back.”
“Offensively we need to continue building on the successes we had from this past week,” said senior and quarterback #10 Brock Werckle. “Defensively we need to refine our techniques and pursuit angles.”
The Cobras will meet up with the Weimar Wildcats at home on Friday, Sept 4, starting at 7:30 p.m.
