One fatality reported in two-vehicle accident

One person died and another person was injured after a two-vehicle accident on State Highway 111 at the Jackson County and Matagorda County line at 7:38 p.m. on Jan. 13.
A source said Walt Phillips who is a sales manager at Texana Ford Buick GMC in Edna was the person injured in the accident. Phillips was transported to Bay City Hospital. The source said he is doing okay and has broken ribs.
The Department of Public Safety spokesperson was unable to give the names to those involved in the accident Wednesday morning. The Jackson County Sheriff’s office, emergency officials from both Jackson County and Matagorda County and the Department of Public Safety responded to the accident.
