Cobras lose first game to Shiner
The anticipation for Friday night’s season opener set in the Cobra den had been building for over a month. The Industrial Cobras set out to strike the invasion of the Shiner Comanches, but lost 27-0. The first game brought the hope of a new season and reason. Win The Day, the slogan for the 2014-2015 season, displayed along the fence line to serve as a reminder to the Cobras to give it everything both on and off the field.
The first quarter was a defensive battle with both teams refusing to give either offense anything. Score at the end of the first quarter, 0-0.
A punt by the Comanches kicked off the second quarter of play putting the Cobras on the five-yard line. Junior quarterback #10 Brock Werckle took a snap, stepped back to pass and was tackled in the end zone by the Comanches for a safety.
The Comanches scored two touchdowns before the end of the half with both point after attempts spoiled by the Cobra defense. Shiner Comanches 14, Industrial Cobras 0, was the score ending the first half of play.
