Weather doesn’t stall aerobatic competition

Aerobatic competitors flew in from around Texas to compete at the International Aerobatic Club Best Box in Texas Open at the Jackson County Airport.
Debby Rihn-Harvey, a continuing aerobatic competitor and champion, was there to compete and judge the competition.
“The weather isn’t looking best,” Rihn-Harvey said. “But we’re going to try some practice runs.”
Rihn-Harvey looped her plane upside down and flipped it side to side, and did more maneuvers called hammerheads, quarter snaps, down lines and tail slides, that delighted the small crowd. Her skills and focus made it clear she was still at the top of her game.
Bob Salter was been flying since 1977, and flies a DR 107 little red plane, he said. “I try to compete anywhere I can, and I enjoy meeting people who do the same.” Salter is based out of Kerrville.
