Edna praise group uses mime and lyrical dance to spread Gospel

A praise group in Edna is slowly growing to spread the worship of God: Total Praise of Faith Temple Church. Made of up six people, 26-year-old Kelvin Turner, sophomore Narhonda Washington, sophomore M’Kayla Barnes, senior Cassandra Hardeway, junior Jonnisha Hardeway and second grader Unique Barnes, Total Praise performs a combination of lyrical, mime and praise dance to gospel music.
“I just love this form of worshipping God, showing him love and what he’s done for me,” said Kelvin. “We like to let it be known that it’s okay to love and worship him.”
The group started five years ago after they watched other groups perform and wanted to do something similar within their church. Total Praise currently knows performances for 25-30 songs at any given moment, and they meet every week to practice and discuss dates of future performances and what to do to get their participation numbers higher within their group and the church. Total Praise finds inspiration from other praise groups on YouTube.
