Aerobatic contest at airport this weekend

The Best Box in Texas Open, a South Central regional aerobatic competition, will be held at the Jackson County Airport from Friday to Sunday, July 18-19, starting by 8 a.m. each day. Around 20 planes will be practicing on Thursday, July 17, to compete over the weekend, and the event is free each day to spectators.
Rick McClure, the Jackson County Airport manager, said he hopes for a good turnout from both the public and the competitors.
“With the remodeling of the airport and the support of the county officials, it’s this kind of thing that’s attracting the contest holders to come back into the area,” McClure said. He also commented it’s been eight to 10 years  since a contest like this has been in the county. “We’ve been letting everyone know and letting other organizations know to try and get the word out.”
