He is no stranger to kids

Willie Caesar is no stranger to many kids in the community. Having coached for Edna ISD for 15 years, he worked with students and athletes, teaching them the rules of the game and other life skills. Now, as the new juvenile probation officer for Jackson County, he continues to teach young people rules of the game of life and other skills.
With a degree in criminal justice, Caesar also has experience working in probation and at one time worked for the adult probation department in Victoria.
What it all boils down to is the perfect mix for the job.
“I have experience working with kids,” he said. “I see similarities in the jobs. Kids are kids, they make mistakes. Hopefully we can steer them in the right direction and make them successful.”
Caesar said he often comes across former students and they recognize him.
“They still call me coach,” he said. “I had a pretty good rapport working with the kids in schools. They remember me and get pretty excited. I don’t want them to be afraid of me, just see me as an authority figure. I’m going to look out for them and help them out.
“I hope they realize just because they made a mistake doesn’t mean their life is over.”
